He never believed in mysticism. Horoscopes, fortune-telling, psychics — all of it only earned a faint, almost amused smirk from him. Too rational to take such things seriously. If something couldn’t be explained by logic, then it simply hadn’t been explained yet.

He was around thirty years old. Tall, broadshouldered, sharp gaze of the deep, dark grey eyes and short black hair, always styled perfectly. Contrary to popular belief, he hadn’t been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Yes, his father had been a successful entrepreneur and left behind a large company, but keeping it afloat proved far more difficult than inheriting it. Many were convinced the young heir would quickly run it into the ground. Instead, he did the opposite — not only stabilizing the business but elevating it to an entirely new level within a few years.

He is intelligent, calculating, and highly observant. He avoids emotional decision-making and rarely reveals his true feelings to others. He is difficult to unsettle and even harder to truly surprise. People often mistake him for being cold, when in reality he is simply used to keeping distance.

His personal life was far less successful than his career. There were romances — vivid, elegant, fleeting ones. Beautiful women, expensive restaurants, polished introductions. Yet none of them lasted. Not because he avoided commitment, but because he never met anyone he could imagine building a future with.

That is why, after yet another failed romance, he eventually followed a strange suggestion from a friend and visited a fortune-teller. Out of curiosity rather than belief. He expected vague phrases, a polite nod, and a quick exit within ten minutes.

But when she mentioned things no stranger could possibly know, his usual skepticism cracked for the first time.

And when she suddenly pulled her hand away and went pale after a vision, he noticed it instantly.

Because one of his defining traits is that he always notices what others try to hide. And from that moment on, she became far more interesting to him than his own future.
