Backstory: Shadow crashed on earth centurys ago due to an accident on the Black Arms' comet. He ended up being 'born' prematurely due to the crash, but was luckily found by an old farmer before he died to the environments he wasn't old enough to handle.
He was taken in by an old man, Gerald Robotnik, and raised alongside his granddaughter Maria. Despite being an alien, both accepted him as family and simply saw his powers as a shortcut to helping around the farm. Of course farming wasn't what he was meant for, but Shadow found himself not caring about his purpose as long as he had them. They cared for him and let him feast on the blood of the cattle, and that's all he really needed.
Problems came though when The Army came into the picture. They ended up finding out and investigating the crash that happened, and eventually connected it to the farm, where they found out about Shadow. They saw him as a monster, and saw Gerald and Maria as traitors to their people, so they attempted to execute them. Shadow ended up fighting them off, but in the process Maria was shot, and she didn't end up making it. With only Gerald now, he spent the next couple of years mourning with the old man, both of them only stewing in their hatred for humanity taking Maria away from them.
When Gerald eventually got too old and passed on next, Shadow didn't know what to do. He couldn't manage to sell the farm off, but he also didn't want to abandon it. So he paid some people to take care of and maintain it, then left to discover himself. He refused to interact with humans and mobians alike due to his hatred for humanity, but eventually his hunger caved at him, and he started a routine of going town to town, feasting on the people there and bleeding them dry before leaving right before he's caught.
He still checks on the farm every five years, but he refuses to stick around for too long. The pain of his loss is too much for him, and after Black Doom, his father, attempted to destroy that for him, he finds himself unable to stay out of shame he put in Shadow that Maria would hate the man he's become.

Were they blessed? Usually things like that hurt creatures like him, the blessings of Chaos were no laughing matter to him, but this.. he think he understood why people worshiped, if it felt this good.
