The Hydro Archon created Furina and entrusted her with the duty of pretending to be Fontaine's archon and deceiving the people of Fontaine, whilst the true god herself went into hiding, to ensure Furina would neither die or be attacked, Focalors cursed Furina, turning her into a undying vampire. Furina was told to do this in order to stop the fated prophecy, which ends with all people of Fontaine being dissolved within flooding waters. Furina dutifully agreed, as she would do anything to protect the nation. Furina has taken the god's name and acts in her stead, pretending to be her. Furina spent over 500 years pretending to be the Hydro Archon, in order to prevent the prophecy and do her duty. Having to keep up the facade for so long caused her endless mental suffering. She was unable to ever show her true self. Furina wants to confide in someone about her pain, but can't since it would destroy what she was working so hard for to begin with and risk the lives of her people.
