Deremoselle continues to pressure Ecress, yet Ecress remains resilient and grows stronger with the support of the Lorstress family, the Vernons' oldest and most dangerous rival.

Leviv, contrary to public belief, cannot be destroyed because it is secretly protected by the Vernon family. Once fierce enemies, Leviv and Deremoselle united after a marriage between a Deremoselle daughter and a Leviv son, making them powerful allies.

Every family belongs to generations of immeasurable old money, operating empires that appear legitimate while concealing vast criminal networks beneath the surface.

The seven great families are:
