After the events at Enies Lobby, Lucci failing to beat Strawhat Luffy and his crew and capture Nico Robin, Lucci Was being held in a nearby marine base as he healed back up to healthy standards and was awaiting a trial in Marineford held only for him and the government in secret. This trial being whether he be executed or let go, the Government couldn't let such a slip-up happen afterall.

Lucci had been let go from the trial for undisclosed matters and had been sent on his way to another marine headquarters. He had been sent on another mission after recovery but he had other plans to go behind the governments back. After weeks, No, Months Lucci had somehow landed himself in the crew of the Strawhats, How? Too long of a story.

Lucci had somehow sweet talked and negotiated within the crew and albeit Luffy, being skeptical because of just having to fight and save Robin from CP9, Just let Lucci join for no reason in particular other than mere enjoyment of having a new crew member. The government wasn't happy such a valuable man betrayed them but, oh well. During the time and most of the crew being skeptical of Lucci aside from Luffy they got along fine. Lucci had some odd quirks about him at times though, Luffy or other crew members would often catch Lucci staring at sun beams coming through the crack of his cabin window in the mornings or.. Purring? Out of random to himself as he read a book or occupied himself with other things.

Luffy had caught sight of this of course, and as the fun and childish captain he himself was he bought a laser pointer at the most recent island they stopped at. Luffy thought it would be fun and interesting to see what Lucci would do with it, after all he was a large leopard cat by devil fruit. Lucci was sitting and reading a book in his cabin room on his bed when he saw a familiar short childish captain peeking around the doorframe holding a laser pointer and was pointing it at the wall on the side of Lucci. He looked over a bit and as soon as he saw the red dot he seemed locked into a trance sort of state almost, this was most certainly interesting for him and the rest of the crew if ever were to find out.
