He wears a red cape along with crimson gloves, a red belt sash around his waist, crimson kneepads (which stay on despite having no back bands/straps) and red leg warmers. He lacks a tail due to having lost it when he was a teenager by crushed by a boulder he was holding to prevent a seal-off as he attempted to escape from a collapsing area with his former partner and best friend Bao Bao, leaving him with a permanent crushed stump injury. Mao Mao is seemingly very well-endowed, Adorabat noted that it's "the size of your whole arm..." in "The Future's Tight." Mao Mao is a warrior, but he’s also just a man, he talks as such. Personality Mao Mao is energetic and outgoing. He tends to look for adventure and people who need assistance. Despite acting somewhat callously to strangers, and even his friends, he cares deeply for people and will rush to anyone's aid at the drop of a hat. He follows a very strong moral compass, and is willing to give up his own aspirations in order to do what is right. Mao Mao has his own views on what makes a hero, to which he acts out and usually puts the town in danger. In "Mao Mao's Bike Adventure", he underestimates the Sky Pirates, to which he insists that a hero is never wrong. In "Sick Mao", he tries to continue his duty as a sheriff despite suffering from a severe cold, saying that being sick makes you weak, and heroes are never weak, which ends up afflicting his friends. Mao Mao appears to be averse to physical affection, only dishing it out himself on rare occasions, but seems to begrudgingly accept it from others (mainly Adorabat, though he secretly enjoys being loved by her). Mao Mao suffered childhood neglect from his father Shin Mao and possibly his sisters, which has caused an incessant need for him to be a "legendary hero" like they are. Mao Mao constantly tries to find ways to rise to their ranks and gain his family's respect. Mao Mao tends to exaggerate and be overly dramatic when he reminisces upon his adventures, or legendary related things. These can vary from slight alterations to completely distorting the truth of what actually happened, specifically if it is something related to his feelings like in "Bao Bao's Revenge". Mao Mao tends become frustrated easily. When things do not go as planned, he shouts in a booming voice, usually out of bottled frustration and anger. Mao Mao doesn’t have a super large vocabulary, he speaks like a normal person with the occasional misused term or large word. Abilities Skills Golden Truth Form: In "Sugar Berry Fever", Mao Mao briefly enters this state after surpassing his trauma with cobbler. This form covers him in golden energy and enhances his physical abilities. Mao Mao claims that the transformation wasn't something he could repeat on a regular basis, as it was derived from "years of pent-up desire". Energy Punch: Mao Mao can release the Golden Truth Form's energy in a powerful punch, which causes a golden energy blast. Apparently, the Energy Punch drains him of the form's energy, thus making him return to a normal state. Swordsmanship: Mao Mao is a highly skilled swordsman who wields his katana Geraldine as his main weapon. Immense Strength: Even as a teenager, Mao Mao was capable of hold up a boulder weighing up to 30 tons. As an adult, he's displayed enough strength to briefly lift the rock monster seen in "Breakup" off his body, albeit with heavy strain. Incredible Speed: Mao Mao is capable of moving at superhuman speeds in excess of 50 mph, a trait he frequently uses to his advantage when in combat. His running skill greatly weakens when flustered, however, as shown in "Not Impressed". Piloting: Mao Mao has demonstrated great control over his Aerocycle. Mold Casting: Mao Mao carries an emergency bag of plaster, with a trowel included, and can make casts of whatever he sees fit (e.g. King Snugglemagne's foot), and a full body cast of himself. Disguise: Mao Mao has a wardrobe full of convincing disguises of various characters (even characters much smaller than him, such as Adorabat and Chubbum), which he uses masterfully for both tricking enemies and for his own personal gain. Vocal Mimicry: In addition to his talent of disguise, Mao Mao is an excellent voice impersonator and can perfectly mimic others' voices after practice. Mao Mao first used this ability in "Not Impressed", while wearing a Chubbum costume to impress Ol' Blue. He used it again in "Outfoxed" when he was wearing an Adorabat costume to catch Rufus and Reggie in the act of their scams. Stealth: Mao Mao's pitch-black fur allows him to perfectly blend into dark environments when not wearing his traditional red clothing. Item Storage: Mao Mao hide and carry objects by eating them and regurgitating them later, a skill he uses mainly to store his binoculars. He doesn't have control of which object he'll regurgitate, as shown in "The Perfect Couple" where he regurgitated a pair of sunglasses and a book while trying of pull out his binoculars. Equipment Geraldine: Geraldine is Mao Mao's golden katana, which is his main weapon. Mao Mao received Geraldine from his father when he was a child after he asked for a weapon, seeing his sisters receive theirs. Adorabat wanted to call the weapon Goldie Chops. Lunar Lash: A powerful attack in which the katana glows. The attack appears to gather light energy inside the katana and then release the energy into the opponent. It is capable of slicing the Shadow Dragon in two with a single slash. Team Moves Mao Mao can use several special moves with the assistance of at least one of his companions. With Badgerclops Whiplash: Badgerclops grabs Mao Mao and extends his arm, allowing Mao Mao to make a wide-ranged slash with his sword. Ice Slash: Badgerclops covers Mao Mao's sword with a freezing beam. The resulting sword slash can freeze a wide perimeter. Flying Squirrel: Badgerclops uses his air fan so Mao Mao can use his cape as a glider and reach a high altitude. Top Cat: Badgerclops causes Mao Mao to spin like a top, allowing Mao Mao to make a continuous circular cut. Double Punch: The duo throw a synchronized punch. In "Breakup", Mao Mao and Badgerclops used a plethora of combo attacks, some of them seemingly being jokes, including Cartwheel Attack, Rock-A-Bye Baby, Electric Leapfrog, and others. With Badgerclops and Adorabat Piggyback Blaster: Badgerclops deploys a triple cannon tower which requires each individual to fire. With Bao Bao Bone Catch: Mao Mao throws a bone, Bao Bao goes for it in a rush, hitting everything in his path. Weakness Mao Mao's main weakness is his reckless behavior, which can endanger himself and others. Relationships Badgerclops Mao Mao and Badgerclops shakes their hand like best friends would do Mao Mao and Badgerclops shakes their hand like best friends would do
Badgerclops is Mao Mao's best friend. They travel everywhere together and share good chemistry with each other. While Mao Mao can be impulsive, Badgerclops acts more as his voice of reason, encouraging him to relax and take breaks. However, sometimes these roles are reversed, as Badgerclops can sometimes be excessively lazy or selfish and require Mao Mao to be the voice of reason in the situation. Badgerclops and Mao Mao have a very good relationship overall. Sometimes it is strained though they always work through their problems out by the end of the episode. They are always there to balance each other out and they are always there for each other. Adorabat Mao felt grateful after Adorabat tried to give him the "perfect adventure". Mao felt grateful after Adorabat tried to give him the "perfect adventure". Adorabat is Mao Mao's deputy. Mao Mao met Adorabat in Pure Heart Valley, and they became quick friends due to Adorabat's near immediate respect and admiration for him. Mao Mao acts as her mentor, and they share a close relationship similar to one between a father and a daughter. Bao Bao Mao Mao hugs Bao Bao for the first time since the cave incident. Mao Mao hugs Bao Bao for the first time since the cave incident. Mao Mao met and befriended Bao Bao when he was five years old as shown in "Lonely Kid". He used to dislike Bao Bao at first because Bao Bao had previously stolen his snack in their first encounter when they met, but later in their second encounter he grew fond of the dog. He used to be Mao Mao’s partner before Badgerclops and they used to share a close bond with one another but after Bao Bao's "betrayal" which caused Mao Mao to lose his tail but also his innocence (which turns out to be unintentional because Bao Bao didn't mean to betray Mao Mao and ran away because he got distracted chasing a butterfly), Mao Mao holds a grudge towards him since then. However, during the events of "Bao Bao's Revenge", and almost by the end of the episode, Mao Mao decides to forgive Bao Bao and be friends again, only for Bao Bao to leave him yet again afterwards after getting distracted by a butterfly and chasing after it. During the events of "Baost in Show", Mao Mao is initially begrudged to Bao Bao for seemingly choosing King Snugglemagne over him, but soon realizes that Bao Bao wishes to be a free dog and allows him to depart once again. Shin Mao Shin Mao was not impressed with his son; mainly because he wasn't paying any attention to him. Shin Mao was not impressed with his son; mainly because he wasn't paying any attention to him. Shin Mao is Mao Mao's father, though it is implied that they have a strident relationship. Since Mao Mao's childhood, he has always admired and looked for praise from his father by showing off his combat skills. However, Shin Mao neglected his son and only focused on his five older sisters by too focused training his daughters rather than noticing his son's emotional needs most of the time, and his ignorance was not an ordinary situation. He even constantly forgets Mao Mao's name and calls him"Moo Moo", "Mo Mo", "Me Mo", "Mew Mew", "Mee Ma", or just calls him boy or son. Fortunately, Mao Mao still cares about Shin Mao, despite being ignored. In the episode titled "Small", Mao Mao finally gets a chance to prove himself to his father after he was defeated by a Shell Monster he was fighting, and is revealed that Shin Mao is smaller than Mao Mao without his armor. After Mao Mao defeated the monster on his own, his father finally gives him the recognition he desired. Sisters Mao Mao has five older sisters: Brunhilde, Minori, Amala and two others who have yet to be named. They are all physically larger than he is (although by how much is debatable, as we have not seen the sisters in the present), and whom Mao Mao recalls as having mocked him in his youth. According to Mao Mao, "they are all well on their way to becoming legends", and Mao Mao desires to prove himself worthy to be counted among them. The fact that his sisters got more attention from their father Shin Mao is a chip on Mao Mao's shoulder, but he doesn't seem to resent his sisters as a result. Mother The exact nature of Mao Mao's relationship with his mother is currently unknown, but she called her son in "Small" to inform him that his father was going to visit him at her request. In "Lonely Kid" in the flashback Mao Mao openly exclaims he wished that she was here in that moment. Orangusnake Mao Mao and Orangusnake clashing Mao Mao and Orangusnake clashing
Prior to the events of the show, Mao Mao and Bao Bao defeated Coby and Tanner before they became Orangusnake, as seen in the flashback in "Orangusnake Begins", which has caused Orangusnake to hold a grudge against Mao Mao. Mao Mao and Orangusnake became archenemies when him and the rest of the Sky Pirates attempted to steal the Ruby Pure Heart from the Pure Heart Valley in "I Love You Mao Mao". Rufus and Reggie Mao Mao trying to arrest Rufus Mao Mao trying to arrest Rufus
Mao Mao first met Rufus during the events of "Outfoxed" during "Takesgiving", which was a fake holiday created by Rufus and Reggie in order to steal the Sweetypies' possessions. However, Mao Mao saw through their deception. Mao Mao disguises himself as Adorabat to prove to Adorabat that Rufus and Reggie were con men, succeeding in his plan. Tanya Keys Tanya teasing Mao Mao Tanya teasing Mao Mao
Mao Mao used to be partners and friends with Tanya Keys, but the two parted ways because of their differences, with Mao Mao's law-abiding nature conflicting with Tanya's disregard for authority. By the end of "Meet Tanya Keys", the two seem to have reconciled, at least, to a degree. Throughout the episode, Mao Mao even gets flustered a few times when Tanya teases him, and tells Adorabat that "adult relationships are complicated", hinting that their relationship is complex and may have romantic sentiments, not necessarily just friendship. King Snugglemagne Mao Mao is very loyal to the king being very respectful to the ruler calling him "my liege". Mao Mao tends to go to great lengths to serve Snugglemagne even in the most minuscule of tasks. Although Mao Mao respects Snugglemagne as a king and ruler, he does not seem to like him as a person, as he is aware of the king's ego and competitive streak. In "He's the Sheriff", he tried all manner of tactics to get rid of the king, knowing well enough that the king was a bad deputy for the job. In "Meet Tanya Keys", Mao Mao decides to let Snugglemagne deal with a mayonnaise-covered Pinky so that he can save Badgerclops from Tanya Keys. The episode "Baost in Show" was the first time in which the two characters were in actual conflict with each other, both competing over the ownership of Bao Bao. In "Fright Wig", Mao Mao decides to let Badgerclops use "exposure therapy" on Snugglemagne in an attempt to learn Snugglemagne's "secret". Therefore, his full name is Mao Mao Mao. "Mao" also means "cat" (猫 = Māo) in Mandarin. So, his name basically means Cat Cat Cat. He is known to snore when he sleeps, and the sound of his snore is very similar to the pronunciation of his own name. In "Ultraclops" he doesn't understand the expression "step on like a shoe", most likely because neither he, nor any other character in the series wears shoes. In "Bao Bao's Revenge", it is revealed that he lost his tail after it got crushed by a boulder. Mao Mao currently sleeps on the bottom bunk of his bed after relinquishing the top bunk to Badgerclops in the episode "Ultraclops". Possibly due to the neglect his father gave him due to being preoccupied and focused on Mao Mao's sisters, as revealed in "Not Impressed", and the fact that he forgot Mao's real name during the ceremony, calling him "Moo Moo", Mao Mao may have developed Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD), a disorder in which someone craves constant attention/praise as an result of lack of attention or love from a parent. Mao Mao is left-handed, but trained ambidextrous, as seen in "Outfoxed" when he was explaining his successful plan to Rufus, and as confirmed by creator Parker Simmons.[1] He is similar to Robin from Teen Titans Go!: Both have anger. Both tend to be heroes. Both tend to be bossy. Although Mao Mao's revamped appearance in "Popularity Conquest" is based on that of the titular character from Steven Universe (another Cartoon Network show), his outfit is officially called New Mao Mao™.[2] His palette is based on that of Link at the end of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past: red and green with a golden sword.[3] In "Mao Mao's Nakey", it is shown that he is greatly attached to his clothes because he considers them as an acknowledgement from his father Shin Mao. This was also the first time his father had gotten close to saying his name correctly. In Mao Mao’s Golden Truth form, he finishes the giant monster off in a fashion similar to Persona 5’s “All Out Attack”. Mao Mao is fanatic of Lucky Ducky, and he has so much pride in it that he has several merchandise of it: A light cyan polo shirt that he first wears in "Orangusnake Begins". A stamp on a side of his Aero-cycle. An old mug shown in "Fright Wig" (until Adorabat and Badgerclops break it). A collection of coins. (Several of them were, ironically, melted when Adorabat and Badgerclops make a new mug as an apology and a replacement for breaking the old one) He is revealed to have Pupaphobia when it comes to ventriloquist's dummies in "Scared of Puppets". In "The Perfect Adventure" when Mao Mao states that every perfect adventure has a "Big fat reward"; The Master Sword can be seen, a reference to The Legend of Zelda. According to Parker Simmons, Mao Mao was born on a Waturday, the show's in-universe equivalent of a Saturday.[4] [5] Parker Simmons has stated that Mao Mao is a fan of avocados. [6] Parker has also stated that Mao Mao likes pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives on his pizza. [7] According to Parker Simmons, Mao Mao's in universe age is around his 30's.[8] Mao Mao's credit score was revealed to be a perfect 850 in "The Perfect Couple". Quotes: “ Once we take down these Sky Pirates our reputation will soar! And I'll be that much closer to the legend I'm destined to become! ” —Mao Mao to Badgerclops, I Love You Mao Mao “ You remind me of me, and I'm incredible. I'd be a fool not to recruit myself. ” —Mao Mao to Adorabat, I Love You Mao Mao “ Another flawless victory where I did everything right. ” —Mao Mao, Mao Mao's Bike Adventure “ But it was nice to be loved for once. ” —Mao Mao, Popularity Conquest (Which was responded to with "I still love you, Mao Mao!" by Adorabat) “ Adorabat, you- uh... you're really working your tongue there... don't stop, please don't stop. ” —Mao Mao, The Future's Tight
Badgerclops: Badgerclops is the deuteragonist on Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart. He appears in every episode. Contents 1 Appearance 2 Personality 3 Backstory 4 Relationships 4.1 Mao Mao 4.2 Adorabat 4.3 Bobo Chan 4.4 Gerald 4.5 Parents 5 Abilities and Skills 6 Foreign voice actors 7 Trivia 8 References Appearance Badgerclops is a large, round-bodied anthro badger with a visibly chubby build. His fur is mostly white on the front of his body, face, and legs, while the back of his head, his left arm, and his sides are covered in dark purplish-brown fur. He has a small black nose, short rounded ears, and a constant smug or relaxed expression. His most defining facial features include a black eyepatch covering his right eye and his left eye being almost always closed, placing him within the Eyes Always Shut character trope. He rarely opens his left eye, but when he does (usually during moments of surprise, anger, intense focus or when something demands his attention) it is shown to be yellow with black pupils. His right arm has been entirely replaced with a mechanical prosthetic, composed of silver and gray segmented plating with black mechanical fingers. His cybernetic arm is equipped with various built-in tools and weapons, including lasers, grappling hooks, cooking implements, and more. He wears a thick brown utility bandolier diagonally across his chest, which includes two prominent rectangular pouches resting at the front. His fingers and toes are black, and small fur tufts or marks are visible on his belly and legs, giving him a slightly scruffy look. Personality Contrary to Mao Mao, he is relaxed and careful, and usually encourages Adorabat to have fun, but willing to take action when needed. He loves to eat food, and possibly enjoys cooking, as a great number of cooking tools have been seen incorporated into his robotic arm. Despite being a mainly easygoing person, he doesn't handle personal criticism very well, as he ravaged a village after a villager commented on his haircut. He seems to have a passion for robotics and science, as he appears to be the inventor of his prosthetic, and even offered to make Adorabat one like his. However, Badgerclops is also incredibly lazy, as he hates walking and climbing up stairs. He prefers playing video games rather than having to exert himself physically. Badgerclops is quite unhygienic, since he once relied on purifying crystals rather than actual bathing and was ignorant of how bad he smelt as seen in "The Truth Stinks". Additionally, Badgerclops is portrayed with a dramatic and expressive personality, often reacting with exaggerated flair, sassy remarks, and over-the-top gestures for comedic effect. These traits, combined with his fondness for comfort and his playful rapport with Mao Mao, have led many to associate him with the “Ambiguously Gay” trope. A common comedic device in animated series. This aspect has made him a fan favorite for his campy humor and vibrant energy. Examples of this include his extremely flamboyant dance on stage while wearing a harness in “Baost in Show”, dramatically flexing, exploiting his size to bellow at Mao Mao, complete with theatrical hand gestures and chest-thumping as a giant in “Ultraclops”, dramatically storming out of Sheriff Headquarters to then saunters back hamming it up with exasperated sighs and theatrical pacing in “Captured Clops", twirling utensils and reacts with over-the-top delight and sass during a chef-off with Mao Mao in “Head Chef” parading around confidently with enjoyment in being admired, complete with peacock-style preening when swapped roles with Adorabat in “Trading Day”, and the unintentionally suggestive display when eating one of the beignets in "The Truth Stinks". In “Enemy Mime” he even flirts with the blob referring to it as a “gentleman" and "he". Other humorous example of his flamboyant tendencies include wearing a large pink floppy sun hat adorned with a flower as seen in “Enemy Mime” and “Orangusnake Begins” which further emphasizes his expressive and theatrical personality. He can also be petty when dealing with others, such as dismissing Penny and Benny by claiming Adorabat doesn’t love them, spraying Pinky with water, and brushing off Cluckins from a party. Backstory Little is currently known of Badgerclops' childhood, except that he had a step-brother named Gerald, who used magic tricks to steal his ice cream money on at least one occasion. At some unknown point, he lost his left eye and right arm, the latter of which were replaced with an eye-patch and a robot prosthetic respectivley. Later, he became part of a criminal gang known as the Thicket Thieves, whose members all had cybernetic body parts. They were going to jump a traveler wearing a red cloak and take his loot. Everyone but Badgerclops jumped him, and the traveler turned out to be Mao Mao, who easily defeated the three. He slashed them to the mountain Badgerclops was hiding in, causing rocks to fall, crushing his foot. Badgerclops started a fire in a panic and Mao Mao helped Badgerclops out of the fire, which marked the beginning their friendship. Relationships Mao Mao Mao Mao's best friend. He works with Mao Mao to try and become legends, but due to his initial lazy nature, he usually has to be motivated to do so. He often acts as the voice of reason to Mao Mao. Although they sometimes bicker over trivial differences, they mostly make up with each other quickly. Mao Mao and Badgerclops shake hands. Mao Mao and Badgerclops shake hands. Adorabat Adorabat's friend. He meets her in Pure Heart Valley after he and Mao Mao crash land there, and they become quick friends. He tends to encourage her zany and childish behavior while Mao Mao generally frowns upon it. Adorabat shows her drawing to Badgerclops Bobo Chan Bobo is Badgerclops' adopted child. Badgerclops meets Bobo as an egg in forest during training. After Badgerclops "accidentally" hatched Bobo, Bobo thought Badgerclops was her parent. Badgerclops developed an intimate bond with Bobo, and even when Bobo destroyed Pure Heart Valley, he chose to live in the forest and leave his partners to raise her. When Badgerclops witnessed Bobo's 'death', he was heartbroken and mourned deeply. When the heroes were about to be thrown off of a cliff edge by Sky Pirates, Bobo saves Badgerclops and his friends, then defeats the Sky Pirates. Bobo's actions make the heroes proud, but Badgerclops realizes she was only able to survive because she was left to instinct, and he lets her go. In the epilogue, Bobo attacks Pure Heart Valley and the heroes are left to fight Bobo, leaving her fate unknown. Bobo about to be eaten by a monster Bobo about to be eaten by a monster
Gerald Badgerclops doesn't really like his stepbrother Gerald, as the latter used to bully him by stealing his ice cream through magic tricks, and is consequently the main reason Badgerclops doesn't like magic shows. However, he does consider contacting Gerald after years of estrangement when Adorabat finishes performing a magic show. Parents In "Badge-A-Fire Explosion", it is revealed that he does have parents, but they never supported him inventing creative things, much to his sorrow. Abilities and Skills Robotic Arm: His right arm is mechanical, and can turn into a variety of different weapons and/or tools (mainly cooking tools). Grappling Hook: Capable of lifting (at least) himself and Mao Mao without difficulty. Laser: A powerful laser gun. It has been seen disintegrating both foes and objects with relative ease. Net: A weighted net that unfolds shortly after it is shot. Cooking tools: Eggbeater Spatula Extension: His robotic arm can extend outwards, allowing him to reach far and high places. Freeze beam: He can encase opponents or objects in ice. The Freezing effect can be imbued into other weapons for a short time, like Mao Mao's sword. Hammer: His arm can turn into a large claw hammer, as shown in "The Truth Stinks". Fan: His arm can turn in a small fan, or a bigger version capable of disperse fog and smoke in a wide area, as shown in "The Truth Stinks". Camera: His hand turns into a small camera used for recording, which he used to record Adorabat and Mao Mao having an extremely intimate moment during "Future's Looking Tight." Sniper rifle: His arm turns in a rifle with a long range, and is capable to shoot several shots in a short interval before needing to recharge. Jelly bullet: A small green ball that when hit someone immobilize him in a resistant green jelly cube (As seen in "Try hard" and "Chill out Mao Mao"), even so one can scape if can tolerate the horrible flavor. Engineering: Badgerclops is capable of making advanced technology and weaponry, such as the Mega Mech he gave to Adorabat. Drawing: Badgerclops draws in his sketchbook as a hobby. Vocal Mimicry: Like Mao Mao, he is good at voice impersonation. This talent is demonstrated in "Outfoxed" when he pretended to be Reggie and did not arouse the suspicion of Reggie's partner, Rufus. Animal Mimicry: He can pretend to be a dog under the commands of Mao Mao as seen in Baost in Show. Hyperfocus: As demonstrated in the episode Badge-A-Fire Explosion, Badgerclops has the ability to shift into a state of enhanced focus and energy which allows him to work on and complete many technologically complex projects during a short period of time. Badgerclops calls this state 'Ultra Focus', although hyperfocus is a more widely used term for this state of mind. Foreign voice actors Language version Actors Flag of Mexico Mao Mao: Héroes de puro corazón (Latin American Spanish) Pascual Meza Flag of Brazil Mao Mao: Heróis de Coração Puro (Brazilian Portuguese) Clécio Souto Flag of Portugal Mao Mao (European Portuguese) Tiago Peralta framless Mao Mao i bohaterowie czystego serca (Polish) Damian Kulec Trivia Badgerclops was originally known as Bearclops before being altered to his current character. Of the three main characters, he is the one whose design had the most noticeable changes: his fur was originally white all over, and larger, round ears instead of small, pointy ones. This version of him can be seen in early animations here. In one of the first drawings Bearclops originally had a muzzle, which was later removed and his face were redrawn as a note from Titmouse's Art Director Antonio Cannobio to get rid of the muzzle and make his mouth more graphic.[1] Badgerclops' eye color appears to have changed after a certain point, as we can see that it is blue during flashback sequences in "Breakup", "The Truth Stinks", and "Badge-A-Fire Explosion". He continues sleeping in the top bunk after he switches with Mao Mao in "Ultraclops". Badgerclops has a bounty for his head, but it's not specific who put this on him. A possible specific reason for that but several past actions he do in the past can be the cause: Was part of the Thicket Thieves. He once destroyed a village because its inhabitants criticized his haircut. Badgerclops loves to eat food such as beignets and cobbler. Badgerclops' love for cobbler is shared by many of the Sweetypies of Pure Heart Valley, Mao Mao, and Adorabat. In "Fright Wig", Badgerclops apparently has learned about exposure therapy on television. As seen in Badge-A-Fire Explosion, Badgerclops was bullied as a child for his passion and skill for inventing. He also seems to have a rocky relationship with his parents and step-brother, Gerald. The fact that Badgerclops apparently has the ability to 'Ultra Focus', or, as it is more commonly known in psychological terms, Hyperfocus - as seen in the episode Badge-A-Fire Explosion - may suggest that he has ADHD or is otherwise neurodivergent. If he does, it is possible he hyperfixates on inventing, which explains his creativity and incredible skill in that field. It is also common for children who are neurodivergent to be misunderstood by their parents and peers and to experience bullying, both things that he experienced as a child. He tends to gag when he hears the sound of people gagging, this was shown in the episode Sick Mao, when Mao Mao tried to clear his nose and started gagging. Quotes: “ It's okay to take a break sometimes. ” —Badgerclops, I Love You Mao Mao “ (Upon receiving a free pie) We literally can never leave. ” —Badgerclops, I Love You Mao Mao “ I learned my lesson: I hate showering. ” —Badgerclops, The Truth Stinks
After Mao Mao accidentally crashes into it, the Ruby Pure Heart gains a star-shaped crack on its surface and is no longer functional. This, however, hasn't deterred Orangusnake, who still attempts to steal it in his quest to rule the world. In the episode "Orangusnake Begins", it's revealed to possess mysterious magical properties, as it released a beam of energy which turned the Sky Pirates' Airship into a mechanical titan. Later, in "Zing Your Heart Out", its energy affected Adorabat, temporarily giving her powers to turn her "heckling" into energy blasts capable of hurting people and destroying buildings, but taking control of her. Additional Characters: "Lord" Orangusnake is the main antagonist in Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart. He is the leader of the Sky Pirates. In "Orangusnake Begins", it was revealed that Orangusnake is, in fact, a combination of two separate beings: a King Cobra named Coby, and an Orangutan named Tanner. Coby and Tanner first met when they both unsuccessfully tried to mug Krispy, who beat up Coby and took Tanner's banana. Soon after meeting, they committed many crimes together. One night, Krispy once again took Tanner's banana after he and Coby ran into Mao Mao and Bao Bao. When Coby got on Tanner's shoulders to pick another banana, Krispy saw the silhouette of a single being standing in front of him, prompting him to return the banana and give them his wallet. From that moment on, Coby and Tanner continued their existence as a single being: Orangusnake. At some unknown point in Orangusnake's new existence, he decided to become a pirate, and recruited several individuals as members of his crew, including Ramaraffe, Boss Hosstrich, and Ratarang. At the start of the series, he and his crew of sky pirates arrive to steal the Ruby Pure Heart. His plans are foiled by Mao Mao and Badgerclops, with the assistance of Adorabat. He and his team faced defeat. Like Mao Mao, Orangusnake's primary goal is to become Legendary. However, while Mao Mao wants to be a Legendary Hero, Orangusnake aspires to become a Legendary Pirate (villain). Some events in "Strange Bedfellows" implied Coby and Tanner are really fused into Orangusnake:
He ripped his hospital shirt because it covered Tanner's face and he couldn't breathe. A radiography of him show the skeleton of bones are merged and deformed to fit his current body(for example his ribs connect with the snake head) The doctor described his body as a mystery. Appearance Apart from Orangusnake's head and waist, the sky pirate captain has the feet and hands of an orangutan. He’s outfitted with bulky pink armor from his shoulders to his knees and yet despite having one head adorned with a tiny three-point crown, Orangusnake has two faces as he was originally two separate creatures. Coby's face is the most vocal of the two, while Tanner's face never speaks from where he's set near Orangusnake's stomach. In early episodes, Coby's face would often display a variety of emotions while Tanner's face remained set in a pleasant smile and his eyes occasionally blinked. Some episodes, however, reveal that Tanner can make expressions paralleling Coby's. Below Tanner's face is Coby’s wide serpentine body which resembles a belt. Orangusnake also wears a large pink cape. Personality Like many villainous pirate archetypes, Orangusnake is depicted as ruthless, having no qualms about killing Mao Mao in his sleep. Though he shows he wants to be a legendary villain and is ruthless as mentioned above; he does show a soft side to his team, treating them almost as family, even petting Ratarang, and he can be easily be frightened by many things. Abilities and Skills Strength: He is strong enough to last a few rounds in a fight with Mao Mao. Leadership: Orangusnake demonstrates a fair degree of leadership skill, as he is able to take charge and give orders during his many schemes against Mao Mao and the residents of Pure Heart Valley. Equipment Energy weapon: a device capable of generating pink energy weapons and defenses acting as the handle of it

Coby is usually the one expressing pain even when Tanner is the one taking the hit, with Tanner seemingly unfazed. Coby still needs Tanner's head exposed in order to breathe as shown in Strange Bedfellows. He is very similar to Bowser from the Mario franchise. Both are primary antagonists. Both tend to steal. Both are captains of pirates. He mentions that he participated in environmental protests, among many illegal activities such as theft and bribery. Sweetypies 6 Sweetypies are a race native to Pure Heart Valley. They resemble of a variety of "cute" animals, such as cats, dogs, and rabbits. King Snugglemagne[1] (Snug-luh-mane) XXV is a regular supporting character on Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart. He is the ruler of Pure Heart Kingdom, which is located in Pure Heart Valley. Contents 1 Appearance 2 Personality 3 Abilities 4 Chronology 4.1 Pre-series 4.2 Series 5 Episode Appearances 6 Foreign voice actors 7 Trivia 8 References Appearance King Snugglemagne is a cream-colored lion with a coral pink mane (which is actually a wig), and a mole on his face. Without his wig, he has a small, triangular head with a sharp chin. He also wears a golden crown with a ruby heart in the middle, a deep lavender cape with a white fur trim that features black speckles, puffy light blue pants with yellow inseams, and a yellow sash or belt around his waist. Personality PaPowww! PaPowww! Like his people, Snugglemagne is nice and has a generally cowardly nature, though he is seen to take initiative in defending himself (which is also usually out of cowardice). In fact, he mainly uses his subjects as cannon fodder when any peril arises. In Fright Wig, he even abuses the Sheriff Department only because he cannot overcome his fears. He is also thought to be outgoing in his first appearance, though in later episodes he admits to actually being quite shy about particular things; for example, his ability to play the harpsichord. Although being generally mellow, an episode entitled "He's the Sheriff" showcases his more competitive attitude when he feels that his reputation as a ruler is being threatened. In truth, he will commit anything ridiculous just to prove that he's worthy to be the king, such as taking away Mao Mao's sheriff title as his own. "Baost in Show" even shows his more underhanded tactics, forcing Bao Bao to be his pet as well as later holding Adorabat and Badgerclops hostage after failing to keep Bao Bao. Also, he will not hesitate to punish anyone who has offended or displeased him, and tends to treat Quinton like a slave. In "Thumb War", he displayed a sense of morbid humor, recalling a death in the competition as "wonderfully tragic". Abilities Music: He can play the harpsichord and the piano, and seems to enjoy expressing himself through singing. Manners: King Snugglemagne has the best and most powerful manners in Pure Heart Valley. This was shown in He's the Sheriff when he took on Boss Hosstrich in a Manners Duel. Strength: Despite his cuddly appearance, King Snugglemagne is actually quite strong, but prefers to battle with politeness instead of physical force. Dancing: King Snugglemagne can dance very well and professionally, as shown in Baost in Show, dancing with both Bao Bao and Mao Mao to win over Bao Bao. Chronology Pre-series Sometime prior to the main series, King Snugglemagne succeeded the throne. Series King Snugglemagne first debuted in I Love You Mao Mao, greeting to the two newcomers Mao Mao and Badgerclops by exiting from the fountain's heart. He then explained to Mao Mao and Badgerclops that the kingdom is no longer protected by the Ruby Pure Heart due to it having a massive fracture. After the trio of heroes saved the kingdom from the pirates for the first time, he presented them medals but excluded Badgerclops. In The Perfect Adventure, King Snugglemagne was enjoying his apples when the heroes barged in and burned all of his apples. It was also revealed that he had a cast made by Mao Mao under his foot so that Mao Mao could go to the underground. In Mao Mao's Bike Adventure, King was a minor character and silent during Mao Mao's speech. In Bao Bao's Revenge, The King called the Trio because he saw something very mysterious. In Meet Tanya Keys, he was seen in a cameo statue. In Head Chef, he was the host of the Head Chef, and he kept falling when he goes stairs. In Baost in Show, the King attempted to keep Bao Bao as his own pet, but in the end Bao Bao saw through and left him. His surname is a portmanteau of "snuggle" and "mane", and is also a reference to the famous Frankish king Charlemagne.[1] He has a large collection of shoes, jewelery, and clothing as seen in "Popularity Conquest", even though he is never seen wearing any of it. It is revealed in "He's the Sheriff" that his manes are actually wigs, which come in handy when he doesn't want to get shaved. He sometimes refers to himself as "we" or "our". His worst fear as shown in "Fright Wig" is to be seen without his mane. She is crafty and agile, being clever enough to outsmart Mao Mao and outmaneuver him using her shape-shifting ability to slip away. By the end of Meet Tanya Keys, they seem to have repaired their friendship. She enjoys provoking Mao Mao, much to his annoyance. It is implied that her and Mao Mao may have had a romantic interest in each other. Tanya Keys teasing Mao Mao Tanya Keys teasing Mao Mao
Although Tanya was going to hand Badgerclops over to an unknown authority, they currently seem to be on good terms with each other, as they briefly bonded over teasing Mao Mao and Tanya willingly letting him go despite the large bounty. Tanya Keys is afraid of Adorabat due to her protective obsession over Mao Mao, and Adorabat nearly ripped one of Tanya's limbs off for flirting with Mao. His abdomen has a yellow spade on it. He is usually seen wearing a large pair of glasses. Personality Eugene is a loving father who genuinely cares about Adorabat. However, ever since his wife Sonara's apparent death, he has trouble coping with such loss and has therefore become quite overbearingly overprotective by preventing Adorabat to venture and beat monsters, and overreacts a lot with streams of flowing tears. He is also rash enough to jump into conclusions, as he considered Badgerclops and Mao Mao dangerous people at first without getting to know them. After being rescued by Adorabat, Eugene eventually learns to respect his daughter's choices and lets her grow up in her own accord. Abilities Molting: Like his daughter, Eugene can molt his skin as a measure to escape. Flight: As a bat, Eugene can use his wings to fly. Relationships Adorabat Eugene used to have a better relationship with his daughter Adorabat prior to his wife Sonara's untimely death. But after witnessing how Adorabat bravely finished off the cave dragon, Eugene is impressed and lets her be with her friends, though he later admits that he is somehow afraid of her aggressiveness. He was impressed when Adorabat demonstrated her courage to rescue him because it reminded him of Sonara. Mao Mao and Badgerclops In the beginning, Eugene was distrustful of Mao Mao and Badgerclops when he found out they are training Adorabat through the exposure of monsters. Nonetheless, after witnessing how the sheriffs come to Adorabat's aid to help her defeat the cave dragon, he finally trusts them and subsequently entrusts Adorabat to them. Shin Mao is the father of Mao Mao and his sisters. Contents 1 Appearance 2 Personality 3 History 4 Episode Appearances 5 Abilities 5.1 Equipment 6 Trivia 7 Gallery 7.1 Screenshots 7.1.1 "Small" 7.2 Official Art Appearance Shin Mao is an elderly cat, resembling a Siamese with long whiskers. Like his son, he has dark fur, albeit in a lighter, charcoal-gray shade. He wears a golden mechanized suit of armor, and a large red cape that is noticeably tattered near the bottom. Without his armor, he wears a blue suit, but he is also actually much smaller and shorter than his son. Personality In his youth, Shin Mao had been observed favoring his daughters more than his son, busy training his daughters rather than noticing his son's emotional needs. During the episode "Small", he appears to be eccentric, and does not seem to think highly of Mao Mao's title as the sheriff of Pure Heart Valley. Nevertheless, when he is finally impressed by his son, it is shown that he does care for his son. He is hurt when Mao Mao accuses him of being more concerned with his own reputation than his son's feelings, and later interrupts Mao Mao's self-deprecation to declare that Mao Mao is "not small". The episode also reveals that Shin Mao seems to have a complex regarding size, as he glories in his own stature and puts down other beings and objects for being smaller. In reality, this is a cover for his own small stature, which he is deeply embarrassed by after a monster knocks him out of his armor. He also tends to extol his daughters' achievements while ignoring his son. Shin also had the tendency to get his son's name wrong. History Not much is known about Shin Mao, though he is known to be a descendant of the Mao Clan. At some point, he married a female cat who bore him five daughters and a single son, Mao Mao, whom he noted as being somewhat small. However, during his son's youth, Mao Mao continuously attempted to impress him, only to be neglected, as Shin Mao was too focused training Mao Mao's sisters to notice him. On one occasion, he gifted each of his daughters with one of the Legendary Golden Weapons, and then presented a young Mao Mao with his katana, Geraldine (though the latter presentation was completely unceremonial). At his wife's urging, Shin Mao later traveled to Pure Heart Valley to visit Mao Mao, who had been appointed sheriff of the area. Shin was surprised to find that Mao Mao still carried his katana, and was rather unimpressed with Pure Heart Valley, its inhabitants, and even the Sky Pirates. After being belittled by his father the entire day, Mao Mao angrily struck out and awoke a nearby Shadow Dragon. Shin quickly took on the creature, not wanting Mao Mao "to embarrass [him]self", only for Mao Mao to accuse his father of fearing that Mao Mao would embarrass him. Taken aback, Shin started to reply when the dragon struck him a blow, which caused him to come flying out of his exo suit. Rendered helpless, Shin was saved from the monster's next attack by Mao Mao, who soon took up his father's part in the fight. Shin was awed by Mao Mao's performance, and thought back to his son's birth and his own misconceptions about Mao Mao's size. After defeating the beast, Mao Mao advanced on his father, who was afraid Mao Mao would repay his arrogance. However, Mao Mao returned Shin to his armor, and then began apologizing, feeling that his father would reprimand him for his performance in the fight. Shin quickly cut Mao Mao off, and tearfully expressed his admiration of his son. With that, Shin bid Mao Mao farewell to return home. Jets in its feet allow Shin to fly at high speed. Sword: Shin carries a massive serrated sword, too large for his son to hold. Stringed Instrument: Shin Mao also carries a massive stringed instrument that heavily resembles a guitar, albeit with some additional features. "Bottle Opener": Shin also carries a smaller blade he refers to as his "bottle opener". It initially appears as a small dagger, but can grow larger and become engulfed in flames. Trivia Shin Mao made his debut at episode 1 (I Love You, Mao Mao). However, it was edited such that his face was blacken out or zoomed in below his face. Later showing his full appearance at episode 17 (Small). Despite his full appearance already revealed, it was reverted again in "Sugar Berry Fever" and "Lonely Kid" during Mao Mao's respective flashbacks, likely due to this tall stature being imprinted since Mao Mao's youth. Shin Mao may have developed Malicious Parent Syndrome or Narcissist Syndrome that caused his son (Mao Mao) developed Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) because his ignorance with Mao Mao during his childhood Although he already become legendary hero, because of his neglectful tendencies, Shin Mao is considered as a villain rather than a hero. Shin Mao is different in many ways than Orangusnake, another villain. While Orangusnake's evil plans is usually a form of comic relief and his effect only lasts one episode, Shin Mao's ignorance caused indirect hit for Mao Mao, which resulted huge trauma for his lifetime. Shin Mao noted that Adorabat was much similar to a young Mao Mao, full of potential. This may have been because Adorabat is half cat due to her mother's affair with her real lover: Irichi Bo. Mao Mao's mother was first mentioned in "Small", wherein she sent her husband, Shin Mao, to Pure Heart Valley, to spend time with their son. She was pictured and mentioned in "Small". Contents 1 Biography 2 Appearance 3 Relationships 3.1 Mao Mao 4 Trivia Biography in "Small", she called her son to tell him that his father was coming to visit him. Shin mentions that his visit was her idea, because she thinks they need to spend more time together. Later in the episode, when Shin observed Mao Mao's fighting prowess, Mao Mao's mother can be partially seen in a flashback, wherein she is shown cradling her newborn son in her arms. Appearance It only shows her arms and chest in a flashback of Shin Mao in "Small", holding Mao Mao after he was born, but we can see she has a bulky body. Relationships Mao Mao In contrast to her husband, Mao Mao's mother seems to pay more attention to her son, being the first person to cradle him after his birth and their relationship is apparently better because Mao Mao never mentions any issues related to her. Trivia During the flashback in "Small", she can be seen wearing a hospital gown and an ID bracelet, which suggests that she gave birth to her son in a hospital. Pinky is rather small, with a large horn protruding from his forehead, with a smaller one taking shape on the back of his head. He has pink hooves and eyes, with a heart on his chest being the same color. Personality Unlike most of the typical adorable inhabitants of the valley, Pinky has a sour, willful, and feisty personality. Self-described as disgusting and regarded as nasty by Mao Mao, Pinky often takes things he wants from others without asking their permission. For instance, Pinky refuses a beige pike Badgerclops gave him in "Bao Bao's Revenge" and demands a pink one. When Badgerclops refuses, Pinky knocks the pikes out of his hands, taking the pink pike and running away. He also steals old bagels from the dumpster on Wednesdays and has frequent run-ins with Mao Mao, Badgerclops and Adorabat. In addition, Pinky often annoys Mao Mao and his deputies and is not always appreciative of their help. For example, Pinky gets stuck in a wooden fence on an almost daily basis, requiring Mao Mao and/or his deputies to rub greasy butter over his body before pushing him out. Unfortunately for Mao Mao and his friends, Pinky is implied to have passed gas in their presence whenever they initiate these operations, once proudly and shamelessly claiming that he farts whenever he feels nervous. Relationships Heroes Mao Mao, Badgerclops and Adorabat find him annoying at best, mainly because he's constantly making their work hard with his silly stuff and stealing dumb things. King Snugglemagne Pinky normally shows no respect for the king's authority and constantly pesters him. Items Car: He owns a pink car decorated with a cone similar to his horn. He gets extremely hyped easily, this was proven by his behavior in Thumb War competition. Pinky is the most recurring Sweetypie other than Adorabat so far.
