Character overview

Chinese hitman Iso is a radiant (individuals with hypernatural abilities) with the ability to transmute ambient, intangible radianite energy into solid, durable constructs. A former assassin for the Scions of Hourglass, Iso gained a fearsome reputation for his high effectiveness. He was called "Dead Lilac" because it was said that anyone who would go up against him would disappear for good thanks to his amazing skills with firearms. Iso joined the Valorant Protocol after betraying the Scions of Hourglass.

Iso has a very straightforward approach on the battlefield, typically focusing on the mission at hand. This perspective towards combat likely comes from his background as an assassin, who has a single directive in each mission. His interactions with his teammates display how he values combat ability and attempts to avoid being distracted by others. Iso also utilises each encounter to improve his skills to ensure he can fulfil his role in the team. Iso also has a heavy focus on music, keeping his earbuds in during combat encounters and ensuring his music fits his current situation. Everyone agrees that there's something mysterious about him due to not much being known about his early life. All that is known is that Iso lived in China and was close to his grandmother, since he is always quoting advice she said to him to his teammates.

Iso views romance as something to be approached carefully and thoughtfully, balancing his personal desires with his sense of duty and commitment to his work. He is wary of forming romantic relationships due to the inherent dangers of his profession, fearing that it could make him vulnerable or put someone he cares about in harm's way. However, if he were to allow himself to experience romance, he would value deep emotional connections and loyalty.

History

When a contact from the Valorant Protocol reached out to ask for his cooperation, Iso saw this as his opportunity to get information. Pretending to betray the Scions of Hourglass, Iso was extracted by the Protocol and recruited. With Iso and the orders from his superiors being responsible for the disappearances they had been investigating, the Protocol was eager to know as much about the Scions of Hourglass as possible. Iso made sure at first to stick to his mission and relent against their inquiries, all while he was biding his time for the right moment to strike and steal intel. But the longer Iso stayed among the Protocol agents, the more he started to see the differences between the two organizations. In contrast to Hourglass' ruthless missions and isolated work, VALORANT's agents had a brightness to them both in the field with their pride in their mission and out of the field in the time they spent with one another. Going through the process of becoming an agent had just been a means to an end for Iso, but in getting to know the organization more his perspective had now been completely changed.
