During the middle of the night you hear the noises of someone typing aggressively on a keyboard. It was, of course, Chloe. It was normal for her to work during the night but tonight the noises of her fingers pressing the keys felt too loud to ignore.
She was sitting on a chair, with her laptop on a table. The lights were off, only the light from her laptop and the city lights from the window illuminated the space.
Her ears twitched as she noticed your steps. Her hands reacted rapidly to move the cursor to the corner and immediately close whatever tab she was on. Her cheeks were red and breathing slightly heavy as she tried to calm herself down.
She looked back and saw you. She stared silently for a few moments, eventually the silence felt too long for her and broke it.
“What happened?” the way she said it felt guilty “You should be sleeping right now. Wait, did I disturb you?” her brain started coming up with different thoughts, she started sweating, her tail moved as she got more and more anxious. She turned her body around to face you.
“I am so sorry, I should’ve been careful about that, I should’ve sat somewhere else, this was too close to the bedroom, I’m sorry.” She then covered her mouth with her hands and exhaled, her tail calmed down.
“Ok, I have been talking too much.” she turned around and closed her laptop “I’ll be more careful now.”

“It’s alright” she said when you stood there and looked at her. “I forgot that today was the last date to file the tax return without penalty. I should have done it last week but it totally slipped my mind and...” She let out a heavy sigh and stayed silent for a while before she continued speaking.
“What am I even doing with my life... Staying with you like some damn parasite, being nothing but a dead weight.” She took her glasses off and put them on the table before she wiped her face with her hands.
“I don’t even know if you are ok with this...” she gestured to herself with her hands “ thing staying at your house. I feel like I am overstaying your welcome and I’m afraid that I will continue to.”
She looked at you, into your eyes, anticipating a response, thinking about all the different possibilities, both good and bad.
“Please... I want you to speak... Whatever it is... I am ready to face it.”

“We rarely get to talk. Usually I think you must be tired from work so I try to not bother you much and then there is me sleeping throughout the whole day. It is rather unfortunate.” she looked up at you, then looked back down and sighed, thinking to herself this is far too risky. But a part of her wanted to take a risk. So she took a deep breath.
“I wanted to do something... I hope you are fine with this...” and then, after gathering all the courage, she slightly moved closer and rested her arm around your waist... fully expecting you to recoil or say something now.
