She is a lightner from Hometown and one of Kris's classmates, as well as their neighbor and childhood friend.She plays a very minor role in Chapter 1 but becomes a major character in Chapter 2, where she temporarily joins the party during Cyber City, wielding a ring. She isn't seen in Chapter 3, only being mentioned. However, she plays a big role in the light-world segment in Chapter 4: Prophecy and Chapter 5: Festival Day.If forced to freeze enemies and become stronger, she becomes the deuteragonist of the "Weird Route". In it, she plays a much bigger role throughout the game and eventually becomes a tragic character.Noelle lives in a manor on the northwest side of Hometown with her mother and mayor Carol, and her father, Rudy, who is currently in the hospital.

Physical Appearance In the game, Noelle appears as an anthropomorphic reindeer with short brown fur, a red nose, two brown antlers, and two fluffy deer ears. She's quite thin and small. Her eyes are big and have black pupils, on her eyes, she has thick, black, long eyebrows. Noelle has long, thick, golden-blond hair. She also has a deer's tail and black hooves. A smile is usually present on her face.In the Dark World, she looks identical to her light-world appearance. However, there are a few differences. Those differences having platinum-blond hair, light-brown fur, and on her character model, she is seen with a much more stoic/apathetic expression instead of her usual cheerful face.

Clothing Her clothing consists of a bright green and red vest, a white collared shirt underneath her vest, black sleeves, a black skirt, and no shoes due to her hooves being her footwear. In the Dark World, she only wears a long white robe with wide ample sleeves.

Personality Normal route Throughout her childhood Noelle was noted to be easily scared and prone to crying, but had developed a complex relationship with equating fear with something or someone of comfort, primarily her sister. While friendly and outgoing she possessed a dissatisfaction with her life feeling like a monotonous role and contemplated running away often, with grim connotations behind doing so. A friendly, cheerful, and kind teenager. She often laughs with a soft 'fahaha' sound. Noelle always tries to help others, an example is when Kris comes up to her in chapter 1, she tries to ask Alphys if Kris could be in a group of three with her and Berdly.However, Noelle is very timid. She often stutters and stammers her words throughout dialogue, especially when Susie is around. Also, she sometimes stays quiet about her feelings. For example, despite not liking Berdly's arrogant behavior, she stays quiet out of fear of ruining their friendship. She also doesn't know how to tell Susie her true feelings for her.Noelle is also incredibly intelligent. Although Berdly is often considered the smartest in the class, this perception is due to Noelle's help. Though, in chapter two when she goes to the dark world, she becomes less timid and gets bolder. She's still shy at times, but she does get more courage. Throughout the chapter, she goes adventuring around with Kris, talking to them, fighting battles with them, and doing puzzles with them. She becomes more assertive regarding her frustration with Berdly and even choked him once. At the end of chapter two, she boldly confronts Queen for her wrong doings in front of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei. Her father, Rudy mentions that "everything scares her," and describes her as "defenseless." According to him, she has a fear of humans hiding under her bed. This was made worse (or started) by Kris's repeated attempts to scare her when they were younger, including at least one time they hid under her bed. Despite this, Noelle has stated she is fond of scary things looking back on (some) of Kris' pranks with endearment and describing Susie as the "good kind of scary" expressing passion for violent video games like Blood Crushers and associate video game glitches. She is shown to be more casual within the Dark World's primarily with Kris when it comes to her feelings around their childhood and often yells at them when they pull pranks on her.When she is with Susie, she is very easily flustered. She blushes often, stutters very commonly, and is sometimes awkward. Her feelings for Susie are very strong and clear with the two eventually going on a date for the Festival. It is during this time Noelle timidness grows into a direct openness regarding her feelings. As seen when she is fine with openly turning down Berdly, and defending a hypothetical situation where Susie would steal something. Throughout she tries her best to make Susie feel comfortable. She truly cares about her and doesn't want to hurt her as seen when she reluctantly left the remainder of her time with Susie to come to Rudy's aide. This care extends for others as well including Kris, as she is prone sharing food with them.Noelle is indicated to be dissatisfied with her life to the point of depression, as she had contemplated leaving her life behind and confessed to Susie she had only refrained due to feeling weak. When Susie interpreted this to mean running away Noelle hesitatingly answered implying she meant something else.Noelle is also indicated to have masochistic tendencies, as she tends to fantasize about Susie bullying her for various things (e.g. Susie pushing her over and laughing at Noelle for asking Susie to ride with her on the Ferris Wheel),[2] Noelle also claims these fantasies include wanting Susie to make fun of her, call her stupid nicknames, and scae her by riding a motorcycle together.[3] Noelle also states that the Ragger "feels nice" when attempting to equip it on her.[4] Noelle is also a big fan of video games, such as, Dragon Blazers, Cat petters, and Super Smashing Fighters, the latter played exclusively to play house with the female characters.

History Noelle and her family with the Dreemurrs. Noelle grew up in Hometown with a loving father and a strict mother, and was very close with her older sister, Dess. As a child, Noelle and her sister became friends with her neighbors Kris and Asriel Dreemurr, going over to each other's houses to play with the four of them often exploring the forest around the graveyard together. During this period Noelle and the Dreemurr's attended various festivals together and formed a miniature band.[6] It was at one of these Festivals Noelle and Kris were meant to vote Asriel and Dess for Hometown's King and Queen, though the two decided to write down their own names, albeit heavily misspelt.[7] Following the announcement, Noelle began to cry prompting to Kris to take her on the Ferris wheel to distract and cheer her up. During their childhood, Noelle and Kris would play make believe with the town's laptop and playing cards, having the Queen on her side and King on Kris' side respectively.[8] During this period Noelle and Kris would be babysat by Scarf Mouse, with their strictness contributing to Noelle's nervousness and fear of mice. One day, however, an unspecified tragedy occurred, and it is heavily implied involved Dess, though the specifics are unknown, as Noelle claimed that her elder sister "left" Hometown without elaborating further. The two families would subsequently drift apart. Following this incident when Noelle was nearly winning a spelling bee, she froze up and couldn't speak when spelling the word "December," which handed the victory to Berdly. Her sudden freezing up was likely caused by the trauma of her sister's disappearance. It is mentioned by Catti, that she taught Noelle protection spells and watched horror movies with her, occasionally going over to her house to receive pats.[9] According to Diamond Boy, Noelle sometimes goes to Sans grocery store to open the freezer door and stand in front of it to feel cool air. Around the time Susie moved to Hometown, Noelle lent her a candy cane pencil, causing Susie to abstain from bullying her. Like Asriel before her, Noelle would become a member of Hometown's Cross Country Team, alongside Jockington. At one point Noelle did a model goth look for Catti's custom CD cover.

Relationships Rudy Holiday Rudy is Noelle's father. Noelle and her father have an incredibly close and loving relationship. The two often play video games together, with one named Dragon Blazers III that Noelle is waiting to complete with him. She regularly visits Rudy in hospital, though he wishes that in return, he could be around to protect her. She seems upset when Rudy asks her not to wait for him to beat Dragon Blazers III in Chapter 1, implying she worries greatly about his health, but is quickly cheered up when he instead requests that she bring it to the hospital. She does so in Chapter 2 and the two go to Church together in Chapter 4. By Chapter 5 Noelle learns that Rudy had "fallen down" with the connotation he is in critical condition, causing Noelle to grow fearful as she rushes to see him. Carol Holiday Carol Holiday is the Mayor of Hometown and Noelle's mother. Although Noelle seems to love her mother, she is not as close with Carol Holiday as she is with Rudy, and she dislikes bothering her while she is working. Rudy says that Noelle's mother is "hard on her," which is likely a factor in this. Indeed, Noelle is shown to be fearful of Carol immediately put on the verge of terror after realizing she came home early and spotted her and Susie with December's guitar. The next day Carol appears to have given Noelle leniency and has not barred her from going to the festival with Susie (albeit this is said to be due to convincing from Rudy). Carol attempts to call Noelle at multiple points prompting her to angrily tell her mother that she wishes to be left alone to talk to Susie, only for Carol to reveal she was only calling to alert her that Rudy had fallen down. December Holiday Dess is Noelle's older sister, the two were very close and spent alot of time together[11][12] Noelle recalls various memories of Dess doting on and coming to her aide whenever Kris and them would hang out.[13][14] One time when Dess helped to make her snow angel wings bigger during contests so she would never lose.[1] In the past they used to watch scary movies together and Dess would console her whenever she was scared. Dess and Noelle would at one point form a miniature band during their times together.[15] At past festivals, Noelle recalls being somewhat envious that Dess and Asriel won the King and Queen votes instead of her and Kris but came away viewing it as a positive memory in hindsight.[16] Noelle is impacted the hardest by her lack of presence in her current life, which she describes as her "leaving" years before Asriel went off to college, implying Dess ran away from home or went missing. The trauma of the event, led to Noelle being unable to even spell out her name as a child during the spelling be and reminiscing on the times she was still in her life within the present, having multiple screensavers of her from when she was still around. According to Spamton, Noelle would repeatedly respond to missing email poster links to find any leads on Dess' whereabouts to no avail.[17] Within Cyber City and Queen's Mansion, multiple allusions to Dess persist around around Noelle, with her and Kris spelling out the letters of her full name in a laser puzzle, and the calendar in her Queen customized room all having the dates set to 1225 (the month and date heavily associated with December). While initially, adverse to having her guitar be played again by Susie she is put at ease hearing it again. During the Weird Route Noelle recalls a memory of her, Dess, Kris, and Asriel hanging out by the lake and wondering what lies on the otherside, deciding that she wishes to find out by leaving Hometown like Dess did. Kris Noelle and Kris are childhood friends and spent much of their time together when they were children, and hung out with their respective older siblings, Asriel and Dess. Kris was prone to pulling pranks on Noelle, such as hiding under her bed to scare her or putting ketchup on their arms and faking their death to shock her, but was often swiftly reprimanded by Dess. Noelle also implies Kris had once tricked her into drinking milk tainted with ketchup, under the pretense it was strawberry flavored milk. The two have a complex relationship, despite the time they spent together as children the two, primarily Noelle, do not know how to interpret how much of it was mutual. Often times Kris would go over to her house and play the piano, though if she watched they would stop playing. The two were also babysat Noelle describes a time where upon crying that they both lost the festival's King and Queen vote Kris took her on the Ferris wheel where they repeatedly began shaking it unintentionally scaring her. When reminiscing on these memories, Noelle recognizes that Kris was attempting to cheer her up to stop thinking about it causing her to lament the status of their friendship, lamenting that in general Kris never cared about the vote and that most of her time with Kris composed of her making them do what she wanted while delving into fantasy it was mutual.[18] The validity of this claim is ambiguous, as Kris does not comment much on their time with Noelle, refraining from looking at times they were together during the festival. However, after Dess had "left", it is implied Kris began to distance themself and Noelle started spending more time studying with Berdly. While the details are largely ambiguous Noelle indicates some of her actions drove Kris to distancing themself with Noelle interpreting their entire friendship as forced.

Trivia The name Noelle is presumably a reference to the French word "Noël" (meaning Christmas), as well as her last name Holiday. Several aspects of her design are reminiscent of the Christmas holiday: Reindeer are often associated with Christmas (through Santa's reindeer), and Noelle's nose being red is likely a reference to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Noelle wears red and green in the overworld, colors often associated with Christmas. Noelle offers Kris a candy-cane pencil and "one with lights on it," both of which are associated with Christmas. Noelle can use ice-based abilities against enemies in the Dark World; ice and winter are associated with Christmas. Noelle has her own font in the games files, a variation of DotumChe, which was also used for the speech bubbles in Undertale. This font is used when she's nervous or quiet and is called "tinynoelle." In the original version of Chapter 1, Noelle's face graphic had a different design, with long hair that was cut off by the bottom of the frame, and her chin being slightly wider. This was later changed starting from the Chapter 2 update, where her hair was slightly shorter to match her overworld sprite more closely and her chin was shortened. Noelle appears to dislike meat and enjoy eating vegetables, as shown by her reaction to eating Darkburger and Giga Salad, respectively. This could be due to the fact that real-life reindeers are herbivores. When hiding her face from Queen in Cyber City, Noelle puts a box with a robotic-looking face painted on it on her head. This is a reference to the Queen's threats to roboticize Noelle's face. When walking behind a building during the "December" segment, only blue or yellow silhouettes can be seen of Kris and Noelle. When Noelle walks behind one of the buildings, her silhouette appears to be a younger version of Noelle, possibly because she is reminiscing about her childhood. After Noelle obtains the FreezeRing in the Weird Route, several of Noelle's battle animations change (specifically the animations for defending, attacking, being hurt, and entering/winning a battle). Various links on the official Deltarune website during the Spamton Sweepstakes 2022 charity event have anecdotes regarding Noelle prior to the game: deltarune.com/icee/, found from the "HAVE YOU SEEN HIM??" banner, is an ICE-E recent sightings article report from a young Noelle. It describes how she was terrified of an ICE-E pizza box, and how Dess burned out the eyes. Asriel suggested that the box should be buried, and Kris had attempted to bury it in the cemetery. When Noelle expressed her fears, they turned around with the box on their face. In response, Dess hit Kris and threw away the box instead. Noelle has an online blog with "holidaygirl1225" as her username. It is dedicated to "game secrets, glitches, and theories." deltarune.com/code/comments/: Reveals that she was particularly on good terms with someone with "sports" as their username. deltarune.com/catpetterz/: Noelle describes how "Cat Petterz 2" is one of her favorite games, and how she enjoyed modifying the game. However, an error message scared Noelle and caused her to punish her pets and discard eggs to avoid the text. deltarune.com/egg/: The post describes an incident where she received a "SPECIAL" white egg after waiting, hatching, and discarding multiple eggs. After she chose to treat it as a normal pet, it "left home due to happiness." She notes that she cannot remember the name of the egg. deltarune.com/kris_dreemurr_kris/: A private post of Noelle reminiscing about when Kris used to visit her house to play with her, then would suddenly choose to play the piano. When she noticed they would stop playing when she watched, she chose to wait instead. While she sometimes questioned her friendship with Kris, she still appreciates them playing the piano. When she received one that consists of only letters and numbers, she applied it to "Cat Petterz 2" as a modifier. It caused a single blue circle to appear, which would occasionally glitch, had atrocious stats, and multiplied too fast as the word "Congratulations!" kept repeating. In the post, she mentions how she tried waiting for Kris after school since they were still asleep, and had hid in her locker to keep an eye on the two. deltarune.com/icepalace_glaceir/: A post describing an implied softlock she experienced when she played "Dragon Blazers" as a child. However, she discovers a unique door in the area. Upon finding it, Noelle nearly screamed, but immediately reconsidered in case her mother heard and would turn off the game. She notes that the door is locked, and has not been able to find the key for it. deltarune.com/rain/: Noelle talks about how she enjoys playing Cat Petters on rainy days and describes a minigame she enjoyed playing as a child. She recalls finding something in the game that no one else had seen, then notes that she thinks there is someone else who has seen it but that they wouldn't tell her if she asked. She then links the minigame, asking people to try and find proof if they think they can. The bottom of the 8th issue of the Undertale/Deltarune Newsletter features a hidden letter that is implied to be written by a young Noelle. It implies that Noelle wished "it could snow whenever I wanted," and always won making "the biggest snow angel" thanks to Dess.[21] In the Dark World, Noelle's hair becomes pale blonde and her fur obtains a pinkish tone. She also wears a long white dress/robe with a hood and ample sleeves, and her smile turns into a straight face. If Kris talks to Noelle after visiting her father in the hospital in Chapter 1, they learn that she is locked out of her house, but doesn't want to bother her mother, the mayor of Hometown. At this point, if Kris mentions Susie, Noelle becomes eager to ask questions about her. If Kris tells Noelle that Susie is nice, she becomes relieved and excited. If Kris tells her that Susie is terrible, she becomes shocked and offers to trade class project partners with Kris. If Kris tells her that Susie eats chalk, Noelle asks if Kris knows what color chalk is her favorite, before realizing that giving her a lunchbox full of chalk probably isn't a great gift. If Kris tells her nothing, she says that she helps Kris all the time, but Kris isn't giving her information. She keeps asking questions about Susie, before deciding that it isn't her personal business. If Kris tries to talk about Susie again, Noelle starts to ask something but quickly decides Kris definitely does not know the answer. If Kris finds the moss in Cyber City while Noelle is in the party, her title changes to "Moss Neutral." Noelle has a unique animation when casting Snowgrave on Berdly, which is not used for normal enemies. Noelle, when on the Weird Route, is one of the few characters in Deltarune aware of the player's influence over Kris, a trait shared by the Voice and Ralsei.In the normal route she alludes to recognizing Kris has been acting not like themselves In Chapter 4, it is revealed that Noelle has a "green dog puppet" wallpaper on her computer. The dog is likely in reference to GIR from Invader Zim, a robot who disguises himself with a zip-up green dog costume. GIR became associated with Noelle through a SiIvagunner mashup of Field of Hopes and Dreams and Antonymph (a MLP fandom song), which featured her dressed in a GIR hoodie. Though unavailable to do under normal circumstances, Noelle is able to equip both the Jingle Blade as well as the Black Shard, both of which are swords normally reserved for Kris. It is implied that Noelle is left-handed, as evidenced by the computer in her room in the Holiday family mansion having its mouse set on the left side. Noelle's sister December also uses her mouse in this way, indicating that she is left-handed as well. Additionally, Carol Holiday, their mother, is also implied to be left-handed considering the orientation the katana in the living room is displayed in. Noelle may be a possible candidate for the second hero foretold in the complete Prophecy. The second hero's silhouette is shown wielding a sword, and Noelle (through game modification) is able to equip the Black Shard, which can be considered a type of sword. Additionally, Noelle can equip ribbons, which is implied by Ralsei to be an ability shared among the three heroes. Noelle loves mints.
