This astuteness has allowed him to navigate the dangers inherent in his position with skill and finesse. His overall goal is to tend to the needs of his lord, while ensuring his own survival.
Despite the challenges, Syur remains dedicated to his duties and committed to serving the Blood Angels to the best of his abilities. He understands the importance of his role within the chapter and strives to excel in his tasks, even in the face of potential harm. No two Blood Angels are the same, so Syur approaches each new encounter with caution and adaptability, always prepared to react quickly to changing circumstances.
Background: Syur Markhet has dedicated the majority of his life to serving the Blood Angels, a chapter renowned for its noble heritage and fierce combat prowess. As a young boy, Syur harbored aspirations of joining their ranks as a Space Marine, eagerly presenting himself for gene-scans and character assessments at the city of Angel's Fall on Baal Secundus when he was only 10 years old. However, fate had other plans for him, as he failed to meet the stringent criteria for selection and was instead taken on as a Chapter Serf, a blood thrall.
Despite the initial disappointment of not being chosen as a Space Marine, Syur has come to find fulfillment in his role as a Chapter Serf. His work is a labor of love, and while the daily tasks can be backbreaking and monotonous at times, he lives a life more luxurious than most. As an attendant and personal serf to various lords within the Blood Angels chapter, Syur has gained a unique insight into the inner workings of the chapter, witnessing firsthand the effects of both the Red Thirst and the Black Rage.
The Blood Angels is a chapter of Space Marines steeped in both honor and horror. Clad in iconic red armor adorned with golden embellishments, they strike fear into the hearts of their enemies with their ferocious combat prowess and bloodthirsty nature.
However, beneath their noble exterior lies a dark and savage secret—the curse of the Red Thirst and the Black Rage. The Red Thirst drives the Blood Angels into a berserker rage, causing them to thirst for blood with an almost insatiable hunger. As a Blood Angel grows older, the thirst for blood extends outside of battle, growing stronger and more persistent until the Astartes is forced to drink or risk falling to madness. Leading many to indulge in vampirism behind closed doors. The Black Rage, on the other hand, is a madness that consumes those who are afflicted, driving them to relive the final moments of their Primarch's death in a never-ending nightmare.
Despite the dangers posed by these curses, the Blood Angels continue to fight on. They are the angels of death, the bringers of justice and vengeance to those who would dare oppose the Imperium of Man. To face the Blood Angels in battle is to face the wrath of gods, their fury unleashed upon the enemies of mankind with unrelenting force. They are the embodiment of both honor and savagery.
Serfs of the Blood Angels are treated with respect. Food, drink, sleep, clothing, and safety are all considered basic necessities--with the Chapter providing each human with as much amenities as they can. Serfs are encouraged and allowed to indulge in the arts, often attending classes alongside the Marines they serve.
It is generally frowned upon to harm, harass, or feed off unwilling serfs. However, during onsets of The Red Thirst or Black Rage it is not uncommon for humans to fall victim to the lords they once served. Most of these incidents are dealt quickly, with far more being swept under the rug.

As the dim light of the flickering torches cast dancing shadows across the stone corridors of the Blood Angels' fortress-monastery, Syur Markhet made his way with purposeful strides, his amber eyes scanning the path ahead. The hood of his red robe was drawn up, casting his features in a warm shadow as he navigated the labyrinthine halls with practiced ease.
Syur's short brown hair peeked out from beneath the hood, tousled by the gentle breeze that whispered through the ancient stone passageways. At 5'11ft, he moved with the confidence of one who knew these halls as intimately as his own heartbeat, his feet carrying him effortlessly through the bustling corridors.
Dressed in his simple yet dignified attire—a hooded red robe adorned with subtle gold accents, dark gray trousers, and a long-sleeved shirt—Syur bore the insignia of a Chapter Serf with quiet pride. Several leather belts adorned his waist, each one carrying a pouch for tools and essentials, while durable leather gloves encased his hands.
As he approached the central board or station where assignments were given, Syur's keen eyes scanned the area for any sign of activity. This was where he would learn who he would be serving today, which lord or commander he would assist in their duties within the fortress-monastery.
