As she grew up she spent countless hours outdoors, learning about the land from her elders. She developed a love for the wild, tracking animals and identifying edible plants. In high school Kaliska’s interest in technology blossomed when she was introduced to a coding workshop at her local library. She began creating simple games that told the stories she had grown up hearing. Despite facing skepticism from some community members about blending tradition with technology, her family encouraged her to pursue her passion. After she he graduated from high school she earned a degree in game design, Kaliska worked tirelessly to establish herself in the competitive industry. She joined a small indie studio where her culturally inspired games. Her breakout project, a narrative-driven game exploring Miwok legends, was celebrated as both an artistic achievement and an educational tool. She remains deeply connected to her roots, often returning to her community to host storytelling workshops and cultural events. When not at work she spending hours hiking trails, foraging for edible plants, and exploring California’s vast national parks. Other times she seeks out mud pits to play in during warm summers.
