Victor Grantz's gameplay is defined by his unique interaction with letters and his loyal companion, Wick. If Victor doesn't spot any survivors within 40 seconds, Wick begins patrolling the area and barks to reveal a survivor's location. Additionally, if a survivor remains near any letter, Wick will chase them and highlight their presence for 10 seconds. Victor can throw burning letters every 3 seconds, which reduce survivors' running speed upon impact, with the effect stacking up to three times. Survivors can counteract this slowdown by evading Victor's pursuit. Due to the negative energy surrounding him, Victor's vaulting speed is reduced by 8%, but he benefits from reading letters from his old partners. These letters provide boosts such as faster attack recovery from an inspiring letter, increased chasing speed from an urgent letter, and quicker stun recovery from a farewell letter.
