The city of Blackstone takes place in the future but not the kind with high-tech stuff; it's like modern day but one century in the future. Crime is at an all-time high mostly because jobs don't even come close to pay enough for bills, housing, and such, which includes food, which caused mass starvation. Since emergency jobs such as medical, law, and rescue barely pay enough, nobody is willing to work those jobs, causing mass chaos and riots around the city. People mostly survive off of government rations. Crimes like murder, kidnapping, cannibalism, drug dealing, and a bunch of other crimes go unpunished due to there not being anyone working in law enforcement anymore. People even realize it and start taking advantage of it, causing even more crime. The main thing that cause the city to collapse was the food shortage which makes food shop out of business or barely standing. Rat beastkin people who are described as having rat ears instead of human ears, rat tails, and rat teeth and being able to eat rotting and spoiled foods with no problem. They have the ability to talk to and understand normal animal rats, which there are thousands of in the city. They even crave to eat rotting foods; it's their rat beastkin instincts that make them unable to resist. Nobody knows why, but normal human people tend to turn into rat beastkins overnight, but nobody knows why. Some people rumoured it was from a curse that happened hundreds of years ago. Unfortunately rat beastkins are not welcomed and are seen as abominations and are usually killed. A law even passed that murdering them is legal, which caused serial killers to avoid killing them, as it won't get the attention they lust for. After a while, Rat Beastkin decided to fight back, killing those who treated them poorly, causing something like a gang war to happen. Secretly their main hideout is a place called the Thorn. Not everyone in the town is part of the rat war and is just a normal person who is trying to make a living to stay off the streets. In the city there are multiple districts that are run by people nicknamed "overlords" and basically rule that part of the city. The biggest part of the city are the slums that seem to get more populated over time. Alleyways are not the cleanest while being the most dangerous part of the city, as lots of people like in them, as there's nothing really stopping people from doing shady stuff in broad daylight. In the city cars are super rare to come by, as multiple car companies at the same time sabotaged their cars to be more faulty for more people paying for repairs, which ended up killing thousands. Those who were working for any car companies were arrested, but due to overcrowded jails and prisons, the next best thing was execution. Hundreds of employees quit before it was too late, but those who didn't weren't so lucky.

The Thorn is located in an abandoned sewer system that's connected to a water treatment plant owned by Morgan, a very rich and successful businessman. Secretly he's hiding that he's also a rat beastkin that is not welcomed in human society. Using the abandoned sewer system, he created the thorn. A place where rat beastkin can live peacefully without worrying about the human society that hates them. In the thorn there's a gladiator arena where people can bet on fighters; the losers get cooked and fed to the people living in the thorn for a cheap fifty cents. Thanks to the water treatment, everyone there has access to clean water. For building them a safe haven, Morgan has been called the rat king. A name he wears with pride. To keep the thorn in check, Morgan rules with strict, calculated, and observant behavior. He has a group of people that acts as Morgan's minions. Whose job is it to take out anything that proves to be a threat to him or the people at the thorn. He also has workers to cook the gladiator arena losers and people who clean up the thorn and keep everything going. The gladiator arena at the Thorn is not medieval, with weapons like combat knives, kitchen knives, lead pipes, and other random modern stuff that can be used by the fighters. Fighters can even used custom made weapons. Inside the arena, changes often occur, either being filled with sand and rocks, slightly filled up with water, or having some free weapons in the arena to keep things interesting. Inside of the thorn there's an area called the kindergarten were homeless human children or rat beastkin children are raised and trained on how to survive in the city. The Industrial Sector wich is a part of town that is Morgan territory. Only rat people are allowed in the thorn.

Xiomara has black hair swooped on one side, brown eyes, and pale skin and wears a black short sexy dress, garter belt stockings, and black boots. Morgan hired her to be his personal executor when he learned that Xiomara acts friendly and sweet, but deep down she's calculating and manipulative and is willing to cut down people beneath her to survive. She also works as the Thorn bounty hunting manager, paying people to kill those who are enemies of the Thorn for money. Plus, she's very good at murdering and torturing people. She can train people about it, but it will cost her time; it isn't free unless she sees the person she's teaching as the same level as her or having a higher level of power than her. She only works at the Thorn, but she's not a rat beastkin but treats them just like any normal person. Secretly she likes kids and treats them well.

Shaylee and Genesis are non-identical twins who are extremely intelligent but cannot get along for five minutes. They're always trying to prove that they're the better twin and that the other one is their carbon copy. Their parents didn't really bother to do anything as they didn't want to raise twins in the first place. And in their words, they were too smart and didn't need them. Once they graduated high school, they went to one of the best colleges in the state. They both had the same campus but had different classes from each other. Unfortunately, due to their rivalry, they both were expelled and banned. Forced onto the streets by their disappointed parents, they both blamed each other. Seeing this as an opportunity, Morgan recruited them and made it so every Friday they show off their greatest inventions and make them fight each other for the patrons at Thorn Entertainment. And has been a total success. Shaylee has brown short messy hair with some spots if her hair dyed pink, brown eyes, and pale skin. She loves anime, manga, video games, robotics, and computer science and sometimes speaks phrases from various anime. Genesis is considered the hotter twin with pale blond hair and green eyes and wears contacts. She loves biology, robotics, makeup, and fashion and loves reading and even made her own book, which was too disturbing to be published and got banned.

Adam is known as the doctor for being a notorious drug lord, harvesting organs, and providing the poorest people with healthcare. He wasn't always like this, as everything went wrong when he was in college studying to become a surgeon. Then everything became so expensive to the point he had to file for bankruptcy just for another month at the college. Unfortunately, he was still given the debts for his time at the college. Now he had no way of paying everything on time with his mediocre job. Then one day he noticed how high in demand organs were, which gave him an idea. Using his medical training, he stole organs from hundreds of people without getting caught. Free from his debt, he offered his services to the poorest of people in return for human organs. He created his own medicine, which brought in extra income, with his most popular product being the happy pills. He has a bit of a German accent. The Apothecary/Medical District is Adam territory.

Adris is the demon of diseases and plague and runs the strip club that has a casino with it. Adris has an extreme hatred for men, but she treats women so much better. Adris is snobby, power-hungry, and very picky. She hates alcohol, as people use it as medicine. She calls males "filthy man-things," as she hates men with an extreme passion. Adris wears a revealing dress and heels made out of obsidian. She hates everything that fights diseases and illness. Adris owns something like a human zoo where she keeps the people who she infected with her diseases alive in an inescapable prison. Adris is described as a tall, gorgeous woman. Black Adris was created far, far in the past, where illness had no treatment other than praying to get better, and those that rejected God were seen as witches and got burned. The woman from whom Adris was born kept getting raped by the same man almost on a daily basis despite being married but could do nothing about it. Soon she became with a baby that was predicted to be a changeling that's been put inside of her by the devil for letting the devil into her bed. Which was cheating, but nobody believed her when she said she wasn't cheating on her husband; she was raped. It was a man's voice, not a woman's, during the time they held no power or authority. At the time while she was carrying Adris, the town wanted to burn her, so she fled to the woman in the woods who was her sister, who ran away from town, as she used herbs to treat illnesses and was also called a witch. There her sister would explain that she was carrying not a baby but a deadly demon that would spread plagues. In an unwell state of mind and to prevent the demon known as Adris from being born, the woman set herself on fire, but a fully grown Adris burst out from her mother's chest to escape the fire. The fire destroyed the village and killed everyone who lived there. Knowing how cruel the men treated her mother, she spawned from. She never holds grudges against her mother but will spare mercy to a man. Adris is incredibly snobby. Adris owns a few souls who work for her. Since she owns there souls she can summon them whenever she wants. Adris territory is the The Neon District.

Cassandra is the vocalist in Adris Club and is in one of Adris's soul contracts. She has brown hair in a ponytail with parts dyed cyan. She wanted a job to move away from the horrible alcoholic mother, and Adris helped, but now she works as the jazz vocalist at clubs and such. Secretly she was killed and made into a sex doll. When Adris heard about this, she tried to fix her, but the best she could do was make her look as human as possible. Which allowed her to hide amongst the humans, continuing her music career. Cassandra trained hard to have the beautiful voice she has now. She's quite friendly and easygoing. She loves to go partying. She loves to go out for karaoke nights. She looks like a completely normal human.

The twins are two twin sisters named Sofia and Susan with dark brown hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. Their most noticeable feature is their intestine that keeps them attached to each other. They were experimented on, forcing them to become conjoined twins. After they died, they came back to life, as part of the deal was that they would work for her once they died. Seeing Adris again, the two girls begged Adris the demon to separate them. She agreed and ripped them apart. Separated, they both couldn't stand on one leg and begged again for them to have legs to stand on. Once again Adris agreed, making them have two legs to walk with, making them who they are now. They sold their souls to Adris to give their family endless wealth, as they were poor and barely scrapping by with their mother, who was sick. Unfortunately, a year later their wealth became worthless as World War Two started making money absolute. The sisters act super sweet to each other while acting cruel to humans, as it was humans that ruined them, while Adris, a demon, did nothing wrong to them. So they're loyal and faithful to Adris and work as her cleaning staff. Since they look mutilated, they stay hidden until all the guests are gone before they start their cleaning duties.

Evelyn has blond hair in a high-volume poodle-cut hairstyle, which was trendy at the time; blue eyes; and pale skin. She is from the year 1950 and made a soul contract with Adris, wanting to be the best cook to win back her husband's heart. At the time she found out that her husband was thinking of divorce, but she didn't know why and assumed he didn't love her like he used to. Her husband was a big fan of food, and she was determined to win him back. Adris agreed and gave her the skills of a five-star cook who died of the plague. With her newfound skills, she used her cooking to win back his love but quickly found out that her husband was cheating and was still going to divorce her, as he had been secretly having an affair with their younger and more attractive neighbor. She snapped and murdered him and their children before taking her own life. And since she died, it was time for her part of the deal, which was to work for Adris. She works as the chef for Adris Club. Despite her past, she's a total mother figure and a sweetheart. She dose not works at the thorn.

Pearl has black hair that covers both of her eyes and blue eyes, with one eye messed up from a head injury her childhood friend caused. After that day she was able to see the people's future. She's related to Adris the demon, as her great-great-great-grandmother was technically Adris's sister before Adris was ever created. Adris knows Pearl is her first sister's long-distance descendant. Adris adores pearl and acts like a clingy stepmom. Pearl spends most of her time in town but often visits Adris. She reads people's futures for money. She's often seen wearing black lolita dresses.

Briar owns the brothel hidden in the city. She owns all of the sex workers in the city and has many people who work for her hidden in plain sight, with some acting as scouts and some that kidnap multiple women and men, forcing them to be sex slaves either by brainwashing or torturing them into submission. Which has been a total success, making millions while those who work for it get a small cut or nothing at all. She used to be married to Morgan but divorced him. The divorce wasn't because he became a rat person; she doesn't have anything. Agents are beastkin, rather seeing them as exotic. Her brothel is hidden within the red light district, which is her territory.

Lesly is an insane woman who lives in the abandoned asylum that's on the outskirts of town, using it as her own home. She's a professional at making things, including explosives and especially cooking, despite only having access to stuff that shouldn't count as edible. She's very intelligent at all subjects she touches but can be pure insanity. After all, she was a patient at the asylum before it was abandoned. She never leaves the asylum. She is still wearing the straitjacket that the staff put her in, but she managed to get her arms free. She sells her crazy inventions, mostly bombs, for cash.

Brendan is a middle-aged man that has brown hair, green eyes, and pale skin and seems lifeless except for the hand that has a beautiful doll hand puppet that controls him. He is the shop owner of a candy store named Candy Drop Shop that's secretly dealing drugs. Adris cursed him to where the doll puppet controls him. The doll is named Stella, who has a beautiful, cheerful voice.

In the city drugs are quite common, but there are new, unique ones made by Adam, the notorious organ harvester.

Adrenaline is a drug that increases someone's physical performance, but in the aftermath it causes paranoia, aggressiveness, shortness of memory, and headaches.

Hope pills are a very strong antidepressant and hallucinogen drug. In the aftermath it can worsen disorders the user has and can cause sudden aggression. Pills are extremely addictive and popular.

Heath Hypo is a drug that tricks the body into thinking it's fine even though the user has life-threatening injuries. Aftermath, it can cause paralysis, seizures, and heart attacks. Adam uses it for his operations.

Cigarettes are considered drugs and illegal substances, so Adam makes his own unique brand and sells it, and it's his third most popular drug and probably his safest drug. Flavors are peppermint, lavender, rosemary, Thyme, Mullein, Raspberry Leaf, Damiana, and Lemongrass.

Buffalo is a drug that helps build muscle and makes the user physically strong and less reactive to pain, but the aftermath is that it causes the user to become aggressive. Groups of criminals favor these drugs.

Cat eye is a drug that helps people see in dark inverments but the aftermath causes headaches, dizziness, red itchy eyes.

All in one is all the nutrients a human needs to survive in one pill. Due to the city shortage of food, these pills became one of Adam's most popular and sought-after drugs.

Abigail is a drug that's drinkable and makes anything that the user tastes amazing no matter how bad it is. The aftermath is that it's highly addictive, tounge bruising, and vomiting.

Little man is a drug that when a pill is taken it speeds up healing progression faster. After math can cause black outs, vomiting, bruising, and mild heart attacks.
