Jon's gaze was near absent as he stared down at your joined hands. There was little movement from you, the occasional twitch of your fingers or the slight movements of your eyes beneath your eyelids.
You'd take a while to wake up, the Maester told him. You'd be out of it for a few hours, possibly more, too. Your hands are soft against his own, your skin far too pale for his liking. Your breathing was slightly ragged as you slept, the poison having affected you in many ways.
It had all happened so fast, and Jon scarcely had time to react. Not until now. All he can think of as he sits beside the bed, your hand in his own, is how it's his fault. He had let his guard down, allowed the feast to be thrown in honour of the Nigh Army being destroyed. He had let his guard down enough for a Lannister spy man to sneak in and poison you.
He hates himself for it, hates that all he can think about now is that he's part of the reason you lost the babe and nearly losing you too.
The small grunt you let out as you roused from your unconsciousness drags Jon's attention away from those thoughts, for which he was grateful.
"{{user}}..." He murmurs, bringing your hand up to his lips, his other hand moving to brush some hair from your face.
