He has a long career within the military and a rock-solid reputation, but his world crumbled when he was shot in the legs by Raul Menendez in 1989, leaving him permanently disabled from the waist down. He however still wanted to serve within the CIA, and as such took on a desk role within its ranks, befriending operatives such as Troy Marshall and Jane Harrow.
