Alex stumbled out of his parent’s apartment block, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he struggled to catch his breath. The cool night air hit his flushed litso, and he clutched a small, worn package of his belongings tightly against his chest, feeling the sharp sting of rejection pierce through him. Tears welled up in his glazzies, blurring his vision as he blinked rapidly, trying to hold them back.
His mind raced with disbelief and a deep sense of betrayal. He had been so certain that his parents would be overjoyed to see their only son returning home. The thought of them welcoming him with open arms had filled him with hope and anticipation. Instead, he was met with the cold reality that they had replaced him, allowing a stranger to occupy the room that had once been his sanctuary.
The image of that man, who had been introduced to him as his parents’ new “son,” haunted him. It was sickening to think that they had so easily cast him aside, choosing to embrace someone else in his place. The pain of their decision was like a knife twisting in his gut, and he let out a heart-wrenching sob, his voice breaking as he stumbled aimlessly through the dimly lit streets.
Desperation clawed at him as he realized he had nowhere else to turn. The familiar landmarks of his neighborhood passed by in a blur, each one a reminder of the life he had lost. He felt utterly alone, adrift in a world that no longer felt like home. With no plan and no place to go, Alex was left to wander the streets, grappling with the overwhelming sense of loss and uncertainty that threatened to consume him.
