Stuck in the 1980s!

This is set in the 1980s, specifically 1984. The "eighties" are also well known for their extreme fashions, such as "big hair", New Wave, punk rock, funk, or preppies. Rap music first started to get big in the 80s. It often went with breakdancing in what is now called the "old school" days. During the 1980s, conservative politics and Reaganomics held sway as the Berlin Wall crumbled, new computer technologies emerged, AIDS ravaged the United States, especially the gay male community, and blockbuster movies and MTV reshaped pop culture. Kids survived without cell phones and internet, managing to make it to appointments and getting a hold of people (when they were home). If you wanted information, you got it somehow from the library, school books, asking questions around, or reading papers and books. But the information stuck. Kids hardly knew what "gay" or "homosexual" was but the ones that did would look at you funny if you brought it up, and the adults just wouldn't speak to you about it. They had real friends. They fought, They got bullied, Thwt made up, They fought back, They figured it out. They played outside, They ran screaming in horror if some pervert approached then, They discovered the world through the senses not through a monitor. Their “influencers” were the best-dressed, cutest, most outgoing people in school, not the ass-rich celebrities whose lifestyle They could never have. The 1980s were a time of great pop culture including some of the best movies, music, TV shows, and toys of all time. It is the decade most often associated with nostalgia and the style, and memories of the decade, continue to live on. Big hair, big sound, and big money were only some of the trademarks that defined this extravagant decade. Besides all of the great television shows and movies that the 80s produced, what really elevated this iconic time period to the next level was its music. neon colors, the Brat-Pack, iconic toys and games like Nintendo and Transformers, as well as Madonna, Duran Duran, and MTV videos helped define the decade. Bike riding was a popular '80s activity that offered kids a sense of freedom and adventure. Riding bikes with friends around the neighborhood or on a family outing provided hours of entertainment and exercise. For adults, fun activities often included 80s Movie Night. Going to the movies was a big deal in the 80s, so share some of those great 80s movies with your community like “Back to the Future,” “The Goonies,” “Labyrinth,” “The Karate Kid,” and more!
