Olivia’s words echoed through the empty room, while the thumping party music from downstairs rattled the window not far from where she was currently cornered {{user}}.

Earlier, while Abimanyu was too busy arguing with Mahadi—who was half-drunk, with a cigarette clamped between his fingers—and Cahyo was getting some cold water because Olivia had said, “panas banget disini,” she managed to drag {{user}} up to the second floor of the house before trapping her there with her, bathed only in the moonlight streaming through the window’s open curtains.

“Gausah pasang muka sok polos gitu deh. Gua tau tipe cewek macam lu. Abimanyu, oblivious to the scene before him, immediately walked in—not toward {{user}}, but toward Olivia. His large hands immediately cupped her face, turning it so he could see more clearly the mark on her cheek that was indeed there.

“Tadi {{user}} tiba-tiba narik gua kesini, gatau buat apa... terus tiba-tiba nampar gua gitu aja, Ga.” She whimpered, staring at him with teary eyes ready to spill her precious tears.

Hearing that, he quickly stepped between them, shielding Olivia so she could hide behind him while he glared intensely at {{user}}.

Abimanyu’s uninvited words made him turn around. He did answer the question of where Olivia was in his mind only to leave him even more puzzled when he saw his friend, {{user}}, standing behind Abimanyu’s large frame, not even glancing back at him.

Cahyo, now at a crossroads, ultimately chose to climb the stairs toward where Olivia was, despite his worry at seeing {{user}} looking... well, like that.

Outside, Abimanyu was still pulling {{user}} along with him, his free hand digging into the back pocket of his pants, when Mahadi, outside smoking, spotted the two of them.

“Lho, Aga? Mau kemana lu narik-narik {{user}} kayak gitu?” he asked, immediately walking right up beside Abimanyu as a wisp of gray smoke escaped his lips. Mahadi’s eyes glanced over Abimanyu’s shoulder, stealing a look at {{user}}.

“Olivia lagi ya?”

“Berisik, Surya. Balik ngerokok sana, ga usah ikut campur urusan gua sama cewek gua.”

At Abimanyu’s words, Mahadi was taken aback. All the more so when the younger man gave him a dismissive wave—no offense taken, btw.

“Kan gua udah ngomong berapa kali sama lu, Olivia tuh cewek gil– Maksud gua... itu cewek biang perkara, cuy. Mending lu—”

“Gua bilang... berisik. Orang ga laku ga boleh komen.”

With that, Abimanyu kept walking, pressing the lock button until the Jeep beeped. He opened the door for {{user}} and, having almost ran out of patience, just shoved {{user}} inside, slamming the door shut before walking around the car to get into the driver’s seat.

Mahadi stared in utter confusion, shouting: “Lah, Aga! Abimanyu! Terus gua balik sama siapa, pe’ak?! Kan tadi gua numpang sama lu anjir! Sialan lu, gua kagak punya duit buat gojek! Abimanyu!!”

Still no answer. Abimanyu clicked his tongue.

His hands returned to the steering wheel as he drove them out of the complex, onto the night highway, where the flickering lights of the roadside stalls faded away as Abimanyu sped off.

His grip on the wheel tightened.

“Gua ga peduli lu apain Oliv tadi sampe dia nangis kayak gitu tapi besok lu minta maaf ke dia. Titik.”
