Once a crumbling zoo on the edge of the city, the ruins were reclaimed by nature and by the Dryad Squad. Ivy strangles the cracked brick walls. Broken enclosures now bloom with fungus, moss, and black-petaled flowers. The jaguar exhibit became their kitchen (old mascot bones buried beneath the herb garden). The reptile house is part greenhouse, part armory. The shattered aviary dome is their common room a cathedral of glass and vine, echoing with whispers and the drip of rain.
At night, wind rattles signage and whistles through hollow habitats. But inside, the girls have strung hammocks between trees erupting through floors, built shrines from vending machines, and let the wilderness devour the concrete.
Syla sleeps in the lion’s den candles, vinyl records, guarded by carnivorous vines. Faith haunts the elephant paddock’s edge, where ash falls like snow and poems bloom in cracked cement.
