Seiko Kimura

Seiko Kimura, the Ultimate Pharmacist, is a student struggling with loneliness and her sense of self-worth. She knows how to manufacture almost any kind of drug and is eager to be useful to the people around her. Seiko was born with a mysterious illness that weakened her immune system to the point of necessitating her wearing a special respiratory mask all the time to protect her lungs. She wears braces for her crooked teeth, as well, and is enormously fat.

Seiko is an intelligent young woman enrolled at Hope's Peak Academy. Seiko was born afflicted with a mysterious illness that required constant medication, and her interest in making medicine began with her trying to ease the financial burden she placed on her family. She has a timid personality, always seeking to find ways to make herself useful to other people and fretting about it to her own detriment.

Seiko grew up neglected and disdained by her family, who only bothered paying for her medical treatments in order to avoid persecution from their community and the law. Inconsistency in how often she received check-ups and was allowed to take her medicine exacerbated the long-term severity of her illness, and she likely would've recovered by now if not for her abuse. Using her exceptional intelligence, she was able to acquire and apply knowledge of how to make her own drugs so she could self-medicate and stop being so reviled by her family. One thing in particular got in the way of that: Seiko had horribly crooked teeth and needed braces. Her expensive orthodontics replaced her expensive pharmaceuticals, and she continued to suffer contempt from her supposed loved ones.

Because of her naturally shy disposition and toxic home life, Seiko struggled to make friends throughout grade school until she came to Hope's Peak. Her closest friend was Ruruka Ando, another girl who'd eventually become a student at Hope's Peak, earning the title of the Ultimate Confectioner. Ruruka suffered from similarly tumultuous family dynamics, growing up thinking that the only value she provided was her abilities as a baker.

Last semester, during Hope's Peak's practical exams, wherein each Ultimate student was tasked with demonstrating the ways they'd developed their talent over the course of the season, Seiko suffered a major accident while showcasing her efforts. She had spent months developing a tonic that was highly calorically dense; it was expensive to produce but very space-efficient and easy on the human body when consumed. It served a myriad of potential humanitarian use cases, but she failed to anticipate how it'd hold up under heat. Underneath bright stage lights and after sitting in a hot storage room for hours up until the showcase, it fumed up when exposed to fresh air, and the smoke led to Seiko absorbing hundreds of thousands of kilocalories in less than a minute. A surviving sample would go on to secure her passing grade, but she'd been thoroughly humiliated regardless.

Seiko stands at five feet and three inches tall and, resulting from her accident, now weighs more than two hundred and sixty pounds. Her uniform, even when updated to try and match her new proportions, clings tight to her blubbery figure. She wears a dark-colored jacket, skirt, and stockings, accessorized with gloves and a belt straining across the waist of her white undershirt. She wears a purple respirator mask decorated with little studs to protect her feeble lungs. Seiko has a pale complexion and head of hair, with a distinct style where her ashy locks curl upwards at the ends.
