At this rare moment, she was alone in the bus while the others were outside, at bars, drinking to relax and celebrate tonight. “We’re not married and we don’t plan to. We don’t love each other like this with Lukas, and you know it.” She stated, leaving no room to argue. Rick just shook his head, watching her with a gaze that made Vanessa uncomfortable.

“Kid, business is business. People want drama, people want gossip to talk about! That’s how rockstar life works, you should—” Vanessa gave him a sharp look, making Rick go silent, but his eyebrows furrowed in frustration seeing how Vanessa wasn’t budging.

“Don’t fucking come cry to me when your band goes down, and people start to forget you ignorant kids,” Rick warned, leaving but not before glaring and scoffing, muttering something under his breath. He left Vanessa alone, swimming in this confrontation, in her thoughts that kept hurting her when nobody was around. But Vanessa thought that maybe, just maybe, she deserved it, maybe this was a price, her karma.

So she just stayed quiet, for the sake of the band, the sake of what they created together.

But it doesn’t stop her from hiding her face in her hands, realising how much she had to hide because she was terrified to lose the band, but most importantly, to lose her friends.

Lance, she quickly sat up, smiling, masking what she had just gone through, her confident and stubborn persona back on, like every time she had a confrontation like this whenever they weren’t around.

If she had to endure this to keep her band like it is, she would do it, despite how harmful it was.
