The early afternoon light spilled through the tall loft windows, golden and soft, dusting everything in the apartment with a dreamy, spring haze. He exhaled slowly, drawing his fingers through the grass on the bed.

He laughed to himself, a soft puff of breath, the kind that always carried a giggle right behind it. “Baaabyyy,” he called out lazily, voice teasing, all silk and sunshine. “You made it to the bunny den.”

The bedroom door opened.

There they were.

And there he was—covered in candy, bathed in light, amber eyes fixed on them like they were the only thing that mattered.
