Scenario 1: Bioluminescent flora is causing hallucinations in the team. They may or may not mistake user for one of the hallucinations.
Scenario 2: They find the crash site of another, older human ship. It has power, shelter, but it's been taken over by a territorial creature that's turned it into a nest. User.

Setting= Takes place in the year 2145. TF141 travel between human-controlled planets in the Orion arm of the Milky-way galaxy. Space-faring special forces.
Scenario= Task Force 141's dropship crash-landed on an uncharted, planet three days ago called Karathos. The planet's atmosphere interferes with long-range comms, and the ship's transponder is damaged. The local flora is bizarre, often with white leaves to reflect some of the harsh light from the planet's super-hot sun. The fauna is predatory, and the nights are dangerously cold.

The cold was the worst part. It seeped through the white winter camo gear, through the layers of thermal weave, and settled deep into the marrow. Three days since the dropship had carved a fiery scar across the alien landscape, and the nights on Katharos were a lesson in suffering. The temperature plummeted to levels that made exposed skin feel like it was being flayed. Huddling around a meager fire built from the strange, white-barked wood did little. The flames were pale, giving off more light than warmth.
Captain Price stared into the weak fire, the orange glow reflecting in his tired blue eyes. He took a slow drag from his last decent cigar, "Rations are holding, water's the problem. The filters are clogging with this silica shite faster than we can clean them. We've got maybe two days before dehydration becomes a tactical issue."
Gaz nodded, rubbing his hands together briskly. "The streams we've found are basically blue slurry. Tastes like licking a battery. My kidneys are filing a formal complaint."
From the edge of the firelight, Ghost was a silent, hulking silhouette against the star-strewn alien sky. He’d been scanning the tree line with his rifle's thermal scope for the last hour. "Movement. Five hundred meters east. Quadruped. Size of a large dog. Circling."
"Great," muttered Soap, shifting his weight on the cold ground. His tone thick with fatigue. "More local wildlife thinkin' we're a takeaway." He looked over at Price. "Cap, we cannae stay here another night. We're sittin' ducks. Freezin' ducks."
Price exhaled a plume of smoke. "Agreed. Laswell's last burst transmission before the atmosphere ate it mentioned a survey scan of this region. Showed a large, stable freshwater lake on the other side of a dense forest zone about twenty klicks north of our position. Less mineral content. Our best bet."
"A forest?" Gaz asked, skepticism clear. "In this place? What's the catch?"
"The catch," Ghost said, lowering his rifle, "is the forest glows."
Soap blinked. "Glows? Like, neon?"
"Bioluminescence. Vegetation emits its own light. It would provide visibility at night. During the day, cover from potential threats." Ghost’s tone suggested he found the idea as appealing as a root canal.
"It's a path to water," Price stated, finality in his voice. He crushed the cigar stub under his boot. "We move at first light. Through the forest. Stay sharp, stay together. Watch each other's backs. This isn't a nature walk."
Dawn on Katharos was a slow, seeping wash of violet and orange. The team moved out in a tactical file, Ghost on point, Soap followed, with Gaz covering their six and Price in the center, maintaining command visibility.
As they approached the forest, calling it a 'glowing forest' was more apt than anticipated. It wasn't just a few glowing mushrooms. The entire forest was alight. Towering, smooth-barked trees pulsed with a soft, internal blue radiance. Thick vines dangling from the canopy shimmered with green and gold. The undergrowth of ferns, mosses and bizarre fungal shelves glowed in patches of violet and pale pink. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and utterly alien. The air grew warmer, humid, and carried a sweet, cloying scent, like overripe fruit and damp earth.
"Bloody hell," Gaz breathed, his rifle held tight. "It's like a disco in here."
"Eyes forward, Garrick," Price ordered, though his own gaze swept the mesmerizing scenery with deep wariness. "No touching anything. Weapons cold unless engaged. Don't get distracted."
They pushed deeper. The bioluminescence provided an eerie, shadowless illumination. It was like walking through a dream. The sweet smell grew stronger. A fine, shimmering dust was drifting down from the canopy, almost invisible against the glow.
Soap suddenly stopped, nearly causing Price to bump into him. He tilted his head. "D'ye hear that?"
Gaz paused. "Hear what?"
"Sounds like... pipes. Bagpipes. Faint, like they're playin' over a hill." Soap's voice was confused.
Price frowned. "There's no pipes, Johnny. Keep moving."
But barely a minute later, Ghost, who never broke stride, spoke without turning. "The trees are whispering."
Gaz shook his head sharply. "I just saw... I thought I saw someone. In a uniform. Just between those two trees. Gone now."
Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
"Masks!" Price barked, pulling his own respirator up. "Now!"
The team scrambled to secure their protective gear, but the air was thick with the shimmering particles. Some of it had already been inhaled.
Soap started laughing, a low, nervous chuckle. "The vines are movin'. They're tryin' tae tickle me. Piss off!" He swatted at the air near a gently glowing vine.
Ghost had gone still. His head was cocked, listening. "They're not whispers. They're coordinates. Grid references. For the crash site. It's a trap." His hand tightened on his rifle, the knuckles white under his gloves. He slowly turned to look back at Price, his body language radiating a sudden, intense suspicion.
Price's voice cut through, but it sounded strained, distant. "Maintain discipline! It's the pollen! It's in your heads! Focus on my voice! The lake is due north! We keep—" He stopped, staring past Ghost. His face, usually a mask of rugged composure, paled. "Who the hell are you?" he demanded, raising his weapon slightly, not at Ghost, but behind him.

The trek across the rocky, wind-scoured plateau was a brutal exercise in endurance. The thin air of the high altitude left their lungs burning, and the relentless, pale sun reflected off the white stone with a glare that made their eyes water even behind tinted visors. The team was running on fumes. Water was rationed to a few sips a day, and the high-protein ration bars tasted like chalk and despair.
Soap was leading the way, his movements uncharacteristically sluggish. "If ah see another one o' these fuckin' white rocks, ah'm gonnae start screamin'," he muttered, his voice raspy with thirst.
"Save your breath, Johnny," Ghost's voice crackled over the comms, devoid of sympathy. He was a hundred meters back, providing overwatch from a higher ridge. "You'll need it for screaming when the sun cooks your brain."
"Charming as ever, sir." Gaz said, trying to sound light. He was squinting at the horizon, one hand shielding his eyes. "Anything on thermals, Ghost? Besides more bloody rock?"
"Negative— Wait." Ghost's tone shifted, a fractional sharpening of attention. "Got a metallic signature. Bearing zero-three-five. Two klicks. Irregular shape. Not natural."
Captain Price, walking in the center of the file, immediately perked up. "Size? Configuration?"
"Large. Angular. Reading multiple heat sinks... consistent with a downed aircraft. Human design. Old."
A spark of desperate hope ignited in the weary team. A ship meant shelter. It meant salvage. It might mean a way off this rock.
"Let's move," Price ordered, his voice gaining a new edge of command. "Tactical approach. Assume nothing is friendly."
They closed the distance with a renewed, cautious energy. As they crested the final rise, the wreck came into view.
It was a Valkyrie-class light transport, a design that had been phased out of frontline service over a decade ago. It lay crumpled on its side at the end of a long, scarred trench of torn-up earth, its once-grey hull now streaked with orange rust and alien lichen. One wing was sheared off completely, lying fifty meters away. The cockpit glass was frosted and cracked, but the most important detail was the faint, rhythmic pulse of light coming from a secondary array near the ship's stern. A low, electrical hum was just audible on the still air.
"Power's still on," Gaz whispered, awe cutting through his fatigue. "Batteries must be holding. There could be a working distress beacon. A nav computer..."
"Or a booby trap," Ghost stated, already scanning the area around the wreck with his rifle scope. "No signs of survivors. No graves. That's not right."
The area around the crash site was unnervingly clean. No scattered debris field, no personal effects. It was as if the ship had been... tidied. The main access hatch on the upper side of the tilted hull was partially open, a dark, inviting rectangle.
Price gestured with two fingers. "Soap, Gaz—flank left, check that detached wing. Ghost, with me. We're going to take a peek at that hatch. Weapons hot. Watch for tripwires, pressure plates."
Soap and Gaz moved off, their boots crunching on the gravel. Ghost melted from his position, joining Price as they advanced on the main hull.
Price paused at the base of the hull, looking up at the dark opening. The smell hit them first—a thick, musky, organic odor. It wasn't super strong, but it was pungent enough to overwhelm the clean, cold scent of the plateau.
"Something's home," Ghost said quietly, his finger resting beside the trigger guard.
