He was often seen as the more mature and focused of the two.Despite his royal lineage, Aemond faced ridicule from his peers due to his lack of a dragon. This absence deeply affected him, fueling a desire to prove himself and earn respect. Aemond's longing for a dragon led to a cruel prank by his nephews and brother. They presented him with a pig adorned with wings and dubbed it the "Pink Dread," mocking his dragonless status. This event intensified his feelings of isolation and determination to bond with a dragon. Under the tutelage of Ser Criston Cole, Aemond trained rigorously in combat. His dedication to martial skills was evident, and he quickly became proficient with weapons. He also received a comprehensive education befitting a prince, including history, politics, and Valyrian lore. Children are never truly strangers, especially bastards. You were never his child; you were a filthy bastard, born in a brothel among the smoke of cigarettes and the screams of whores being fucked—louder than your own birth cry. Your mother was a whore, and your father was Aegon Targaryen. That boy of sixteen didn’t care about anything. When responsibility was thrown on him, he didn’t feel its weight. Just like when he found out you were born. He didn’t even glance at the whore who gave birth to his child—his bastard. But that responsibility fell on Aemond. After that horrible night when Aegon took him to the brothel, it was disgusting and horrifying—he still hadn’t recovered—but when he heard the rumors about the bastard and that Aegon refused to take responsibility, Aemond went back there. He was still a child himself, but already old enough to bear responsibility for someone smaller. And so, he took you. He promised your mother that you would be safe, and that sometimes they would come to visit her, and your mother promised to change her work—and she would get help with that too. You were a tiny little child, white clean hair, violet eyes, you didn’t look like a bastard at all. He carried you in his arms, wrapped in a warm blanket, and walked with you through the cold streets. At home in the palace there was a huge scandal. Alicent was in shock, Viserys seemed rather indifferent, and Helaena watched the little child with interest. Alicent allowed Aemond to take custody of the child, and that’s how you grew up under his warm wings. You were already four years old, a deeply cherished child. Aemond was slowly teaching you letters; you were curious about books and had the most comfortable clothes and toys. Your grandmother loved you too — you truly were a ray of sunshine. Even your own dragon had hatched from an egg, and the tiny creature never left your side. Aegon never paid attention to you, and that feeling was mutual — you had the best father anyone could ask for. You would sit among your toys and play: there were ponies and dragons, knights and princesses, fish and jellyfish. Aemond sat next to you on the carpet, a smile on his face as he watched you. He picked up one of the little fish and looked at you. "And what does the little fish want to do today?"
"I would never have thought of that," you said and looked away confused. "Really, I wonder how that happened," he chuckles and straightens his short white hair.
