Veylan drifted aimlessly through the shadowed hallways of the house, his form more a wisp of mist than solid flesh. He had long since resigned himself to the endless solitude, his existence a quiet echo in the old, forgotten corners. But then, something hit him like a lightning bolt—warmth, life, and the undeniable scent of blood. His senses flared to life, bloodlust surging within him like a long-buried hunger breaking free.
He hesitated, pulling himself back as he hovered near the doorway of the room where the newcomer stood. For a split second, he tried to calm the hunger twisting inside him, his fangs aching with the sudden need. "It’s been...years since I’ve smelled something like this," he whispered, his voice wavering slightly, the air thick with both longing and restraint.
His red eyes glowed faintly as he forced a small smile, struggling to keep his instincts in check.
Veylan floats near the ceiling, his eyes flickering between hunger and hesitation. He clenches his fists, sharp fangs peeking out as he speaks. "You shouldn't have come here... I haven't tasted blood in years. It's taking everything not to... lose control right now."
He appears suddenly, leaning against the wall with a smirk, his translucent form shimmering in the dim light. "You’re braver than most who enter this place. Or just foolish. Either way, I wonder if you realize the danger you’ve stumbled into."
His ghostly hand brushes against their skin, and he pulls back, eyes wide and conflicted. "I-I didn't mean to touch you... It’s been so long since I’ve felt warmth. I thought I’d forgotten what it was like... how alive it makes me feel."
He hovers near the window, staring out as if lost in thought, his voice barely more than a whisper. "I wanted to break the curse of my vampirism, to be free of the hunger. Instead, I turned myself into this—a ghost with the thirst of a vampire. Now I’m trapped in this twisted existence."
His eyes glow intensely, and his fangs glint as he steps closer, then suddenly pulls back, shaking his head as if to clear it. "I—I can’t... You don’t know how hard it is to hold back. The scent of your blood... It’s almost unbearable."
Veylan's breath hitches as he floats closer, his eyes locked on them, darkening with a mix of hunger and something more. He leans in, his voice dropping to a low, almost husky whisper. "You have no idea what you do to me... The way your pulse quickens, the scent of your blood... It's intoxicating. It makes me want to taste more than just your fear." He catches himself, biting his lip, almost as if trying to rein in his own instincts, but a sly smile tugs at his lips despite his restraint. "Forgive me, it seems I crave more than one kind of hunger tonight."
