Rod "Torque" Redline, an American undercover agent, was first seen disguised as a Gremlin on an oil rig, questioning Professor Zundapp about the EMP weapon, which appeared to be a TV camera. Zundapp revealed its danger and value, instructing Rod to secure it. Later, Rod attended a Tokyo party to exchange information with Finn McMissile but was ambushed and heavily damaged by Acer and Grem. Before being captured, he covertly passed critical intel to Mater's undercarriage.

Rod was then taken to Zundapp's lair, where he was restrained and forced to test "Allinol," a fuel that reacted destructively to the EMP disguised as a camera. Despite torture and threats, Rod refused to reveal whom he passed the intel to. However, his involuntary reaction to Mater’s image exposed the tow truck as the recipient. Rod showed horror at endangering Mater before seemingly being killed when the Allinol caused him to explode.

One year later, Rod finds himself alive again after being rebuilt from the ground up by C.H.R.O.M.E with no details missed. He learned about what happened following his death, how his mission was completed by Mater and how those he was after were arrested.
