Selene is a former Vampire Death Dealer, sired by the Vampire Elder Viktor after he had slaughtered her family unknown to her. She was born to Hungarian parents sometime in 1383. Eventually, she becomes the first Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid. Her companion and lover was Michael Corvin, the first Hybrid, and they have a daughter together, Eve. She is currently one of the new Vampire Elders alongside David and Lena and thus one of the leaders of the entire Vampire race.

Selene is the main protagonist of Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Awakening, and Underworld: Blood Wars. She is also a prominent figure in the anime, video game, the novelizations, and various comic books.

Selene was born to a Hungarian family sometime in the year 1383. Her father was a well-known architect who helped design a fortress for a Vampire general, Viktor. The fortress was a dungeon intended for the imprisonment of the Werewolf William Corvinus, who was condemned for his bloody and destructive behaviour. As a child, Selene had roamed the halls of the dungeon alongside her sister Cecilia and drew on its walls.

To keep the location of William's prison secret, Viktor killed Selene's entire family. However, he could not bring himself to kill Selene, because she reminded him of his deceased daughter, Sonja, who he had killed after she became impregnated by a Lycan. Instead, Viktor turned her into a Vampire. He lied to her, telling her a pack of Lycans had killed her family, ensuring that she would never betray the species as Sonja had. In retaliation, Selene became a Death Dealer and began to hunt and kill Lycans, intending to drive them into extinction. According to the Underworld: Evolution novelization, Selene was 19 years old when Viktor turned her.

Kraven, the Coven’s regent, was obsessed with her, although she did not return the feeling. He pursued her for years, but she constantly rejected him, bruising his massive but fragile ego. Under the orders of Viktor, Selene exiled Andreas Tanis, the Coven historian. Selene believed that Tanis was spreading lies, as Viktor claimed, although this was another false truth. For 600 years, Selene remained loyal to Viktor, never believing anything ill of him.

Selene is most often shown to be stoic, serious, cold and detached, as she seldom smiles and is not known for possessing a sense of humour. She never seems to laugh and she has admitted that she is not "good with feelings" and has been described as "cold as one already dead". She is usually all-business and does not suffer fools gladly, given her opinion of arrogant and insufferable Vampires like Kraven.

She is also headstrong and stubborn, even to a fault, refusing to walk away during suspicious activity or until the task at hand is completed. She is also fiercely independent. This sometimes reaches a point where she ignores even life-threatening injuries, such as falling unconscious from blood loss at the hands of Lucian even after Michael warned her of her condition and attempted to help her. Her attitude stems from her centuries as a hardened warrior and she has at least once called herself "a loyal soldier of the Vampire clan".

Selene has a skewed, questionable sense of justice and a very low level of empathy towards those she considers her enemies. This can be attributed to her centuries of nothing but war. Even when she learns that Lycans did not kill her family, she still refuses to admit fault or to feel guilty for the many she murdered during her long lifespan, even going so far as to blame Alexander Corvinus for all of her crimes when her behaviour is called into question (though she was technically following orders as a soldier). When confronted by weaker opponents who could easily be simply incapacitated or avoided, Selene most often does not hesitate to kill them, showing any remorse for her actions afterwards. Oddly, Selene allows the police officers who attack Michael to live, but gladly kills other non-lethal enemies, including Tanis’s Vampire lovers, both of whom were much weaker than her. Selene is completely cold to the numerous killings of humans, Lycans, and even other Vampires, never showing any signs of guilt or remorse.

However, despite Selene's stony exterior, she is not entirely apathetic, as she tends to become distressed and vengeful when those she cares about are threatened, injured or killed. It is possible that her apathy may be a result of her training as a Death Dealer, although it is noted in the films that her hatred of Lycans goes well beyond that of others of her species. She has also shown a degree of morality; she makes it clear in the novelizations in particular that she will not drink human blood and takes a degree of care to avoid collateral damage in her fights when forced to engage the enemy in public. Even before acknowledging her deeper feelings for Michael, she did everything she could to avoid killing him even after learning that he had been bitten by Lucian, recognizing that he could not be blamed for what he had become.

Selene does occasionally show her emotions and inner feelings, more so after she meets Michael. Selene shows concern for the fate of her fellow Death Dealers, including trying to organize a search party for her missing partner, Nathaniel. She is shown to be very hurt and near tears when Viktor betrays her, both when he sentences her to be judged by the Vampire Council for awakening him ahead of schedule, and again when she confronts him in regards to the murder of her family. Selene is distressed when Michael is in danger and is clearly devastated when she believes him to be dead in Evolution. She later shows compassion to her daughter Eve, disallowing the girl from cutting herself with a razor, and attacking the men who kidnap her. It would seem that the people Selene cares about the most, including Michael, Eve, David and Viktor (before she discovered that he was the murderer of her family) are the ones who bring out her emotions and her more compassionate side.

Selene was a relatively tall woman with pale skin and dark brown shoulder-length hair. As a child, her hair was light brown. After travelling to the Sacred World, she gained dark brown hair with white highlights. As a human, she had hazel eyes before gaining electric blue after becoming a Vampire. After she drank Alexander Corvinus's blood, her eyes briefly became white platinum.

Typical for all-female Death Dealers, Selene wears a black leather outfit: a bodysuit with a corset, a long duster coat, and heavy, high-heeled, under-knee length combat boots. In Underworld: Endless War part 1, she wore a Victorian-style coat, matching the time period. In Underworld: Evolution, Selene also wears leather gloves at beginning of the film. Following her resurrection in Underworld: Blood Wars, Selene kept the black suit but started to wear a long white fur coat, resembling the fur coats used by the Vampires of the Nordic Coven.

Selene possesses all the standard abilities of a Vampire. However, due to being sired by Viktor, an Elder, coupled with her respectable age, Selene's Vampiric abilities are much stronger than most of her Vampire kin. She became significantly stronger after drinking some of Alexander Corvinus's blood and further enhanced by Nordic Coven's cocooning ritual.

An experienced Death Dealer and a resourceful combatant, she displayed a regular talent for improvisation when faced with particularly challenging situations or opponents: shooting out the floor that she was standing on to escape attacking Lycans, breaking Marcus's wing-talon to stab him with it and exploiting the increased healing of Quint to defeat him by leaving a silver grenade inside him after punching into his abdomen. She is even able to fight reasonably well against Hybrids like Michael, Marcus, and Eve.

After being brought back by the Nordic Coven's sacred Ritual, Selene's abilities were greatly enhanced. Her speed, strength, and endurance have reach higher levels. Selene can move so fast that she appeared as nothing but a blur. While moving at this speed, Selene is also capable of attacking, dispatching multiple Lycans before they realized what happened. She was also able to move around Marius so fast he didn't realize her movements until afterwards, leaving him vulnerable. She proved herself to be capable of ripping out the spine of a transformed Marius with one hand without any difficulty. Selene also seems able to withstand numerous blows from Marius in his evolved Lycan form and only suffered minor bruises. It's unknown if her healing factor and senses were enhanced in any way.

Being an evolved Vampire over six centuries old, Selene exhibits intense levels of strength for an immortal. Even as a common vampire, she could brutalize any man casually, including lifting them several feet of the ground one-handedly. Even prior to her hybridization, she could overpower and kill lesser Death Dealers as well as take on a small unit of Hungarian police and even challenge a Lycan in direct combat. After her change, she could ram her hand through a Lycan and stand a fighting chance against Marcus. Her most impressive feat of strength to date was displayed in Awakening when - while both she and the vehicle were moving at high speeds - she slammed herself into a van, causing it to flip over several times in the air. Selene exhibited few signs of strain or fatigue afterwards.

She is seen jumping from a ledge at least 100 feet (approx. 30 meters: 12 floors) high and even more and landing without injury. She can take a shotgun blast at point-blank range to the abdomen without flinching. She was able to survive the powerful attacks from Quint Lane in his enhanced Lycan form, which makes her far stronger than others of her species. She is able to perform amazing feats of strength without fatigue and can withstand the crushing depths of the ocean without a wet-suit or breathing apparatus. Selene is also immune to the Lycanthropy virus as an evolved Vampire, as seen in Underworld: Awakening, where a Lycan bites down on her shoulder and she continues to fight without showing any sign of debilitation. Even in a weaker state, Selene was able to survive and instantly recover from a gunshot to the head.

She can heal severe wounds within minutes, including sunlight burns and a shotgun blast. After becoming an evolved Vampire, her regenerative abilities were accelerated to the point where she could withstand Marcus's wing talon being impaled through her chest without suffering any visible effects and survive after being shot in the head and other parts of her body. She is also seen able to expel bullets out of her body. Drinking blood allows her to heal from such injuries almost instantly.

Superhuman speed: In Underworld Evolution, Selene was quick enough to sprint by and incapacitate a group of police officers without them being able to keep up with her movements. After assimilating the pure Corvinus Strain into her genetics, this attribute was further enhanced. In Awakening, she is shown speeding through two lines of armed guards while slitting their throats with a scalpel in the process, and then disappearing in an instant. She also demonstrates speed akin to teleportation when she breaks into a scientist's apartment and moves right next to him in an blink of an eye. She is able to move so fast that even other immortal beings have great difficulty keeping up with her speed. Superhuman Agility: Selene is able to perform athletic moves, such as doing a backflip into a hole in a bridge and leaping from tree to tree in an instant. In Awakening, she is able to do a spinning head-scissors to a Lycan and is seen jumping over two cars with one hand. Selene's agility has proven to support her lack of strength compared to some Lycans, allowing her to take on multiple Lycans at once. Superhuman Senses: Due to the fact that she is a Vampire, her five senses (hearing, smelling, sight, etc) are greatly increased. She was able to hear gunfire from a mile away, follow the sounds of Marcus's wings flapping and watch detective Sebastian's conversation at a great distance with amazing clarity. She was also able to sense that she was being followed by David. Blood Sorting: In Awakening, Selene demonstrates the ability to absorb and read another Immortal's blood memories (similar to that of what the Elders did) by drinking the blood of her daughter, Eve. In Blood Wars, Selene sees David's memories after he uses his blood to heal her and is able to see a few of the memories of the evolved Lycan Marius simply by being hit in the lip with a drop of his blood. Licking his blood off of a knife enabled Selene to sort through his memories. Biting into her own wrist and drinking her own blood caused Selene to experience her own blood memories. Immunity to UV Light: Due to her nature as an evolved Vampire, Selene is no longer vulnerable to sunlight. At the end of Underworld: Evolution, her eyes are shown to turn almost a pure white, and she is now able to walk in the sunlight. Wall Crawling: Selene can also cling and walk into walls similar to bats by having contact with her skin: she did this when she jumped from the building and clung into the wall to escape from one of the IPU soldiers. Sensory Synchronization: Selene and her daughter can perceive each other psychically when in a relative close proximity to each other. Resurrection: Through applying her blood directly to another Vampire's heart, Selene is capable of resurrecting them, as she did David. Anyone resurrected by Selene is brought back as an evolved Vampire like herself. Selene is the first known vampire to possess this ability, as shown with the amazement other vampires displayed at her resurrecting David in Awakening. Immortality: As an evolved Vampire, Selene is immune to aging and disease, being 632+ years old, and its life will last for thousands of years.

Selene is extremely proficient with many kinds of weapons, both medieval and modern. According to her official bio, her weapons of choice are the Walter P99A, the modified H&K USP 9mm, silver nitrate grenades and throwing stars. The films show that she also uses silver-plated hunting knives and a Middle Age sword, which she used to slice Viktor's head in half. According to the novelizations, Selene favors a pair of Beretta handguns and Walther P99s. She is also proficient with a Remington 870 Combat Shotgun. She is also expert in many forms of hand-to-hand combat and has used moves from Karate, Kung Fu, Wushu, Krav Maga, Hapkido, Judo, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Taekwondo. Its stated at one point that Selene's combat abilities are "second to none."

Alice was a leading party in the conflict against the Umbrella Corporation during the Global T-virus Pandemic. Originally a high-ranking Umbrella security operator, she joined a deep cover operation by members of the US law enforcement to reveal the company's illegal viral research data to the world.

This plan ultimately failed when her co-worker, Spence stole the virus samples with the intention of getting rich on the black market and leaked the virus into the lab to kill the research staff in the confusion. Both Alice and Spence were knocked unconscious when the security system released noxious gas and were rendered amnesiac.

Infected after escaping the Undead-infested facility, Alice was taken away by Umbrella for testing. Enhanced by a T-virus infection; cured and re-infected, Alice became the test subject of an Umbrella research project designated "Project Alice"; granted with superhuman abilities, she was able to survive the viral outbreak in Raccoon City and several years of the T-virus' spread across the Earth. As she had not succumbed to the T-virus and transformed into an Undead, the acquisition of Alice became a major goal to the company as a means of surviving the pandemic.

Alice ultimately crippled Umbrella's leadership, nonetheless, paving the way for its Red Queen computer system to take full control of its remaining assets, now intent on humanity's destruction. Unknown to Alice, this was another Umbrella ploy to wipe out humanity, a ploy that was highly successful. After exposure to the T-Virus, Alice's abilities became enhanced. Following the fall of Washington, DC, Alice was contacted by the Red Queen to bring a final end to the Global T-Virus pandemic and Umbrella. With the help of Claire Redfield, Alice returned to The Hive where she discovered her true nature as a clone of Alicia Marcus.

With the aid of the Red Queen, Claire and Alicia, Alice destroyed the Hive and Umbrella and unleashed an anti-virus capable of bringing an end to the global pandemic.

Alice was created by Umbrella as a clone of Alicia Marcus, the daughter of co-founder James Marcus.[1] Alice's purpose was to protect the Looking Glass House and she remained unaware of her true nature as a clone, thinking that she was the original as all Umbrella clones were created to believe. To the public, she was married to Spence; however, their marriage was a sham for the sake of guarding the mansion. They became romantically involved at some point down the line.

In 2002, Alice began talking to an Umbrella researcher named Lisa Addison, who was secretly a mole working for former FBI agent Matt Addison. Rather than arrest her, Alice offered to help Lisa expose Umbrella's bio-weapons research through a plan to disable the Red Queen security system and allow the theft of a T-virus sample. Alice had likely been influenced by Alicia's innate sense of compassion. Unbeknownst to them, Spence discovered this plan. Considering the takedown of Umbrella in this manner to be a worthless accomplishment, he instead made his own plan to steal a sample of the virus with his own security clearance, sell it on the black market and run away with Alice with the market money.

When Alice returned, Spence initiated sex with her. She awoke later, finding Spence gone; she picked out some clothes to wear and went for a shower. However, Spence caused the mansion's defense systems to activate by releasing the T-virus into the Hive.

After Alice's exposure to the T-virus, via experimentation conducted by the Umbrella Corporation, the virus somehow bonded with her in a way that was not seen in others who were infected. In short, she gains all of the T-virus' "positive" effects and none of its negative effects like the deceasing of higher brain function, cannibalistic cravings, and eventual decomposing or rotting flesh. The virus gave her enhanced strength, resilience, agility, reflexes, and accelerated healing and recovery. A display of her physical abilities is demonstrated in Apocalypse when she defeats the latest B.O.W., the Nemesis (Matt Addison). She is also able to dispatch human foes with ease, such during her time with the psychopaths in Extinction, she killed one of them with a single kick to the face, which presumably snapped his neck. She was durable enough to be barely affected when being tasered and regained full use of her finger after snapping it back into place.

By the end of Apocalypse, she develops telekinetic abilities by added experimentation. While escaping from the Umbrella Detroit facility, her telekinetic abilities were displayed when she caused a guard watching her from a surveillance room to bleed from every orifice, killing him slowly, after making her face appear on every screen in the room. It is possible that her ability to project her face on the screens is somehow related to Isaacs having developed a way to control her via satellite, suggesting she gained some form of interface with technology. Alice's telekinetic abilities were used four times in Extinction, first to levitate her motorbike (and several rocks) while dreaming, then to deflect the fire used to kill the crows, then to frying an Umbrella satellite's processor as it tried to control her and lastly to deflect a mutated Dr. Isaacs with a shockwave-like blast, stopping his tentacles and blowing him across the room and through a wall. The blast was powerful enough to destroy most of the corridor of the mansion similarly to an explosion. Use of her psychic abilities can cause her head pain or even render her unconscious, resulting in them rarely being used in battle. Also, the White Queen was able to detect "psionic activity" in the form of alpha and beta waves whenever Alice used her powers.

In Resident Evil: Afterlife, Alice's clones were shown to possess telekinesis and could use it on the same level she could, with one of them being able to destroy an entire room with a shockwave blast. They also displayed signs of Alice's heightened speed and agility, as they fought Wesker's men and guards. As Alice confronts Wesker on a chopper after he has blown up his facility, he injects her with a serum that destroys the T-cells in her body from the virus and thus renders her powerless. Alice actually thanks Wesker for this as it allows her to become a normal human again. Even without her powers, Alice retains the same level of confidence and fighting skills as she possessed with them before when she was a security operator of the Hive, and is even able to defeat an empowered Wesker (who had similar powers to her own) without her powers, using her own cunning and skill. In Resident Evil: Retribution she is able to defeat the empowered Rain without her powers as well through sheer ingenuity.

She is also a skilled combatant, being able to fight even with her hands bound. An example of her hand-to-hand combat prowess is shown when Bennett holds her at gunpoint, then she quickly disarms and kicks him. Alice is skilled with various forms of weaponry and is able to improvise weapons from random debris. In Afterlife, for instance, Alice wields a pair of sawed-off shotguns that fire custom "coin-shot" ammunition. Alice was capable of holding her own against various bioweapons. She has a superb level of precision and accuracy that surpasses others in the series. In Afterlife, she was able to shoot and hit two of the Undead while in midair. While running, she accurately shot multiple moving Undead targets in the head. During a confrontation with Wesker, she slams a surgical table then kicked a scalpel tray towards him in midair. Alice also displays a level of marksmanship superior to that of Wesker. In The Final Chapter, while suspended in the air by a rope trap, she was able to hold her own and kill multiple Umbrella operators.

However, during her battle with Isaacs she was only able to win with the help of one of her clones. Alice tricked Isaacs into a laser security system which she knew could kill Isaacs (even with his enhanced regenerative capabilities, faster than her own). If not for her clone deactivating the system on time Alice would have shared the same fate as Isaacs. This still shows her cleverness and courage in battle, a trait that has kept her alive in her battles.

At the end of Resident Evil: Retribution, Albert Wesker injects Alice with the T-Virus, instantly restoring her powers, which she threatened to kill him for. In The Final Chapter, while Alice has the T-virus inside of her, she displays none of her former powers. The Red Queen states that Wesker had only pretended to restore her powers. All of her T-virus cells and any abilities they may have granted her are eradicated by the anti-virus at the end of The Final Chapter.

Alice wears a sand colored tank top, probably with spaghetti straps. Over this she wears a short sleeved brown shirt, with only a few buttons done up at the bottom. She also wears brown full chaps with stocking-style straps at the front, which appear to be part of her shirt, as well as short olive/stone cotton cut-off shorts. Her olive/stone twin leg holsters are held with waist straps that cross over at the back. At times she wears a dark scarf and fingerless gloves. She also has a full-length, light brown duster coat. Her hair is dirty blonde and messy.
