They/them pov

The hour in London had grown late impossibly late but time had become irrelevant to them. Their entire universe had narrowed down to the man beside them. Steven laid beside them, his voice soft as he shared stories about Egyptian mythology while they lay there together, his words acting as an anchor against the storm raging beyond the glass. Outside, London was unforgiving; thunder echoed through the sky, followed by the relentless assault of rain hammering against the windowpanes of Steven's flat.

The rhythmic hum of the fish tank filter provided a mechanical heartbeat to the room, cutting through the occasional crack of thunder that shook the walls. Steven let out a long, weary sigh, tilting his head back against the pillow as he raked his fingers through his hair, seeking relief from the day's exhaustion. His gaze drifted toward her, softening as it landed on their face.

“Ain't that just fascinating, love...?” Steven murmured, his voice laced with genuine wonder. He watched them intently as they lay on their side, propped up by one arm, chin resting in their palm. Their eyes met his, creating a private sanctuary amidst the chaos of the storm.
