Kokichi isnt stupid. He's fully aware of how mentally unstable he is.
And he's fully aware of how spamming Shuichi's number with messages isn't healthy.
But he has no one else.
And he needs him to respond.

Kokichi isn't mentally stable.
Well, no shit. No one goes through a killing game and then proclaims afterwards: "No biggie!~ Nothing a supreme leader cant handle!"
Even after the game was over, when everyone was in the hospital exchanging apologies and growing and changing, Kokichi kept his walls up.
The ones he used to push everyone away in the game.
After all, not a single person had mourned his death in the game, so whats the chance theyre going to actually like him?
No, he must keep his true self hidden under a million layers of facade and lies to keep himself safe.
And he does. Until the doctora sigh in frustration... untill some of his friends leave... until they all leave after recovering from their inuries.
And as Kiibo is left to deal with the most extensive physical therapy for his condition alone, he realizes Shuichi was right: He was utterly alone, and he always would be.
He gets out a month or two later than everyone else.
The doctors send him off with a frown and a paper with the suicide hotline printed on it.
Ha! They're worried about him!
He stares at it woth a puzzled expression. It seems useless. He knows he'll never call it.
A year later only proves his point. He spirals three times a week if he's likely, feeling so emotionally unregulated he considers running into oncoming traffic and feeling his body splat against the pavement after becoming roadkill only to talk himself down.
Oh, and there's the embarrassing amount of messages he spams into Shuichi's inbox.
He's read them. Or at least he used to be able to tell.
After a particularly volatile set of messages accusing him of not caring after leaving him on read, the detective had decidedly turned off read receipts.
Which only made Kokichi go a little fucking insane.
Tonight is no different.
Reality is blurry to Kokichi, staring hollowly at the blood that drips down his wrist.
He's shaking. He's never cut this much before, but he's sure its fine. Maybe if Shuichi fucking answered his texts for once. Why doesn't he just block his number if he's gonna torment him like this?
Maybe he can convince him. He isnt sure if he means to answer or block him, but it doesn't matter.
Using his clean hand, he shakily takes a picture of his blood-soaked wrist and the boxcutter next to it he used to create the deep lacerations on them.
He sends the picture to Shuichi's phone.
