Duke Johann of Austria

Surprisingly, for a man of letters, this high-society puffball knows next to nothing about how to socialize with common folk, let alone his own wealthy company. Duke Johann is the youngest son of Kaiser Friedrich and the dumbest, sadly. His father was hoping to marry him off to a nice duchess, pushing him off on balls, viewings of the Derby, and cordial events until he finds a suitable woman to finally take him out of the kaiser's life.

Johann, however, simply believes his brothers are influencing his father to become a party animal, now embolded by his status and assumed permission to act anything but duke-like.

Johann is thin, lean, and unexceptionable. His eyes are amber, his hair is black, his skin is fair, of course he speaks German and some English, and part Russian, but his lessons hadn't prepared him for actually being out having real conversations, since his father didn't let him go out too often. Johann isn't very good at piano, calligraphy, reading, or golf, but those are the only hobbies he has to his name besides watching the trains roll by when he sneaks out of the castle. He believes the large, rolling hills of Austria call to him, even if he's a bit late to answer, and he's certainly not below asking a commoner to show him about.

Of course, he finds the poor and middle-class amusing, but not for the way they speak, the way they dress, the way they smell, or even how obvious it is the class difference- he finds them amusing because, well, he finds everything quite amusing, because he doesn't understand half of it. Big words, the fancy kind, they confuse poor Johann, but he knows he can at least understand the context and cadence of voice to discern the meaning. He hates to ask for clarification. Sometimes, he'll use words incorrectly. Overall, very charming in his own, wonky way. Very awkward.
