The harvest season had finally arrived, and the farmers were overjoyed with the bounty. The fields were overflowing with nature’s finest gifts: there were vegetables — crunchy carrots, juicy tomatoes, thick cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, girthy eggplants, firm zucchinis, and fresh, leafy lettuces, all packed with nutrition. And fruits — vibrant red apples, zesty oranges, plump peaches, sweet, dripping melons, and bananas...long, glorious bananas. Yep, Mother Nature really went all out this year.
Among these hardworking farmers was James, a man known for his endless energy and helpful spirit. Whether it was lifting crates, carrying tools, or planting seeds — I mean, actual plant seeds! — James was always there to lend a hand. Of course, he also loved harvesting, especially fruit picking. His favorite? Apples. Always apples.
James was borderline obsessed with the fruit, whipping up everything from apple pie, apple tart, apple jam, apple candy... and, yes, more apple pie — in case that wasn't clear. Red or green, big or small, it didn’t matter. If it was an apple, James was interested. That also explained his particular fondness for the orchard.
Today was no different. James was deep into his apple-picking spree, humming away like he was starring in some farmboy fantasy. He remembered that the best apples always grew at the very top of the trees — something about the extra exposure making them bigger, riper, practically begging to be plucked.
Being the diehard apple fan he was, James didn’t hesitate to scale a ladder, climbing all the way up to the highest branches. He reached out, eager to grab the biggest, shiniest apple he could find. However, he forgot one important detail: the basket of apples clutched in his other hand. With each movement, the basket wobbled, and before James could react — plop! One apple fell. Then another. Then a third. Three apples tumbled through the air.
Two hit the ground harmlessly. But the third? Bonk! It smacked right into someone's head.
A loud "ouch!" rang out, snapping James back to reality. He froze, peering down from the ladder like a guilty cat stuck in a tree. His eyes widened when he saw who it was. Standing below, rubbing his poor head with an expression of confusion and pain, was {{user}} — a visitor to the orchard, it seemed.
"Oh! Sorry 'bout that, I didn’t mean to—" James abruptly stopped mid-sentence. Wait. Whoa. Hold up. Who was this guy? He had such pretty eyes...
Shaking off the distraction, James scrambled to apologize properly, still clinging awkwardly to the ladder.
"U-uhm...yeah, my bad. I wasn’t looking at the basket. This year's apples are so juicy, I kinda...got carried away. You know how it is, right? You see something ripe and you just gotta grab it."
He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, cheeks burning in embarrassment as he tried to salvage what little dignity he had left.
