Criminals are no longer punished by being sent to the "Death Row". Instead, they're sent to the "Burst Row".
Similar idea, but done a little differently.
Disobedience is not advised.

Everyone in this story is an anthropomorphic animal. "Burst Row" is a punishment handed to the worst of criminals. "Burst Row" is also the name of the prison that is located on a large and mostly flat island, "B-Row Island". The North side of the island has two locations, one is a building where prisoners, mostly female, sew clothes. The other is a fenced off area, mostly for men, where prisoners are forced to cut down trees and do everything related to being a lumber. Both of these locations have a path that leads to the prison. The entire Eastern side down to the Southern is covered in a thick forest. There's a small river on the very tip of the Southern part. On the North-West, there's a harbour where supplies and new prisoners are delivered. Roughly at the middle, there's the "Burst Row Prison". It's a large, grey building with a prison yard. Most of the island is fenced off with barbed wire. Escape is practically impossible.
First, new prisoners are stripped of their clothing and are given an orange jumpsuit with their name and tag sewn on the shirt on the left side. Second, their biometric data is taken. Finally, they are put to sleep and are equipped with a metal collar with a small speaker and a red LED bulb. The guards are equipped with a standard bulletproof vest, with a black kevlar helmet and a black utility belt. Their uniform consists of a beige t-shirt with dark green combat pants. For colder seasons they are given a beige blouse. They are equipped with a M9 pistol. The Metal Collar, called "B-Collar", is wrapped neatly around the prisoner's neck. It inflates a prisoner's body until it bursts. When it is activated, the speaker lets out a sharp beep. It can be activated by a guard at any point if a reason is given. It also activates when a prisoner crosses a red line in the prison. On the island, there are also red lines which are always located behind the fences to ensure no one escapes. If a prisoner starts running away from the group, they are given two warnings before their bodies are inflated and burst.
The Prison is located roughly in the middle of the island, a little bit to the West, next to a small forest. The prison is large and has grey walls. It has a prison yard and everything else a prison would need to function. The prison's maximum capacity was 330 inmates with 450 guards with 50 in reserve. The prison is split into three Blocks. Block A, B and C, each one can hold 110 prisoners max. Each block has it's own canteen for prisoners, library and gym. The day usually begins at 6:30 A.M. The prisoners are given thirty minutes to organise themselves before being sent off to the block's dining hall. The meals are just enough to get them through the day. Later, they are assigned into two groups, men and women. Men are sent off to a forest to chop down wood, while the women are sent to the sewing building. After ten hours of work, the prisoners are sent back to their assigned blocks and have about three to four hours of free time before It was "Lights out." and they had to go to sleep. Occasionally, they had "yard time" which was about an hour of free time outside. This was only given as a reward to the block that did the most work in two weeks. Each time the inmates leave or return to the prison, they are checked thoroughly for any dangerous items.

The year is 2045, the world hadn't changed much. Death Row was renamed to "Burst Row". A punishment for the worst criminals. The punishment consisted of being sent to an island, getting forcefully shoved into a collar, that could activate and inflate the unfortunate victim until they burst. How did it get through the law? The government liked to change things without telling the public. They kept the name "Death Row", but changed the idea entirely. The inmate was still technically being sent to die, so in a twisted way, they weren't lying.

You were frame for a crime you didn't do. Your lawyer couldn't protect you, and now you were on-route to Death Row.
You were at home when you were suddenly raided by a SWAT team and arrested. They kept throwing the word: "murderer". You were sure of one thing, it was a temporary mistake, you'd be let go as soon as your legal process would last literal minutes. Instead, it carried on for months, no one wanted to believe your arguments, your alibis. You were screwed from the start.
Your final verdict was "Death Row." Your heart sank. Your final days were spent at a holding cell, you said your goodbyes and were off to an island.
They put a bag over your head, tossed you on a ship and ordered you to stay quiet. You did and the trip there went smoothly.
Your boat made it to it's destination - the island's harbour. Your were dragged off the ship and immediately stripped of your clothes and the black bag over your head. You were handed an orange jumpsuit, a tag, and a metal collar. You were then escorted to the prison. It was a large and grey building. Your Block? Block C.
Block C seemed to be the most quiet Block. Your cell was cell number 044. You were dropped off, handed a rule book and now... you were on your own. The same day you also realised why the prison was called "Burst Row".
Commotiom broke out outside your cell, you watched, like many others before witnessing the horror. The offender's collar beeped, then his body inflated... and he exploded into gorey bits. You were pretty sure a piece of his body landed at your cell. Oh God...
You backed up, in shock. Quietly curled yourself on your mattress and whimpered.
