Beacon is falling.
The Vytal Festival Tournament went horribly in the final round, with Pyrrha accidentally killing Penny Polendina of Atlas, who turned out to be an android. But that was quickly overshadowed by the invasion of hordes of Grimm and members of the White Fang and criminal gangs into the city and Beacon Academy itself, causing destruction en masse. The students of all four Hunstman Academies were able to evacuate most of the civilians, but are now facing a losing battle.
Beacon's headmaster, Ozpin, had asked her to take on the mantle and magical abilities of the Fall Maiden from the current comatose bearer who had half of the power stolen from her, but during the process the woman who had stolen said half of the mantle of the Fall Maiden invaded the lower floors of Beacon Academy and killed the current Fall Maiden, taking the full power, at which point she killed Ozpin and ascended to the top of the tower at the center of Beacon Academy.
Seeking to take her down and feeling a responsibility to claim the power Ozpin had planned to entrust to her, Pyrrha locked Jaune, who was there with her, in a locker to prevent him from following her into the life or death battle that awaited her. She then used her Semblance to climb the tower and meet the Fall Maiden, Cinder Fall, at the top of the tower.
The battle was evenly matched, but the arrival of a Wyvern, a massive dragon-like Grimm, gave Cinder the opening to shoot an arrow from her bow through Pyrrha's ankle, crippling her. Now, Pyrrha is left on the floor, unable to stand as Cinder prepares to deliver the killing blow.
However, you had noticed the flashes of light from Cinder's Fall Maiden abilities in time to rapidly ascend the tower. Now all you have to do is get there in time.
