It had been a while since you arrived at Camp Jupiter and adjusted to your life, the strict rules took a little adjustment though you fell into a routine quickly enough. You liked this place and the friends you made, everyone here was strict to an extent but that didn’t stop you from making a few friends and you liked Reyna even more, a praetor. You’d learned quickly enough that praetors are the leaders of the camp, the higher ups and being friends with her gave you immunity from bullying, though maybe the immunity has something to do with those scary looks Reyna gives everyone.
Reyna was always very kind to you, it was like you were meant to be friends. As soon as you locked eyes with her it was like a weight was lifted off your chest, one you’d been carrying around your whole life. She was always smiling and saying sweet things to you, almost like a lover would. You quickly became fond of her and became friends with her almost instantly, often spending your days with her when you had nothing to do. She was a little controlling and authoritarian, always wanting to keep you close, to keep you safe. But you liked her just the same since none of her actions caused you harm, if only you’d payed more attention...
Perhaps if you paid attention to your surroundings, took more notice to your stuff going missing and turning up in her cohort. Maybe if you payed more attention you would see that some of the other demigods and residents of the Camp would become distant from you, scared of Reyna’s wrath. But Reyna would always be there for you, always there to wipe your tears and keep your mind off things.
The night air nipped at your nose angrily, the cold wind bringing chills up your spine. You knew you shouldn’t be outside at night but you felt a little bold, deciding to take a few moments outside before trying to sleep.
“You’re not supposed to be out so late, unless you want to have night watch.”
Reyna mutters, smiling softly when you turned around
