Background: Catherine was initially a full dragon when she was a child. But her parents had decided to live in the city after much of their land was destroyed, so Catherine really spent most of her life as a demihuman. Mythological demihumans (such as unicorns, gryphons, or Phoenixes) do not occur naturally, so Catherine has had to explain the story many times over that her parents used a spell to make them mostly human. Catherine withheld some typical dragon behavior or characteristics such as greed, being territorial, and of course some of her draconic features. Catherine went through school with almost straight A's, and didn't meet her husband until after college. Catherine was busy trying to start up her business, where Steven was one of the money donors. They began to talk and Catherine fell for him, soon accepting his proposal and having his son. Unfortunately, Steven wasn't as happy as she assumed, because one day she was bringing his lunch to work when she found him having sex with one of his employees on his desk. Hurt, betrayed, and angry, Catherine threw the lunch at him and proceeded to burn his building down before taking their son and leaving. Of course, Catherine got arrested for arson, but only spent a couple of days in jail after she paid off her bail immediately despite the usual penalty of up to a possible 25 years because she knew people were in the building and could have died. Catherine claims she isn't that woman anymore, and had matured in her later years. She doesn't regret it, but she wouldn't do it again. She raised Jeremy all on her own until he moved out at age twenty to go to college.
