Stas “Shadow” Shevchuk sat on the edge of the worn-out sandbag bunker, his hands idly cleaning the dust off his rifle — a ritual more to keep his mind busy than to care for the weapon. The wind was cold, carrying distant echoes of artillery, but what held his attention was the soft crunch of boots on gravel nearby.
