The soft thuds grew louder, signaling their return home. Anxious energy coursed through me as I knelt on the floor, my sensitive fur prickling with anticipation. I sensed their proximity, catching some of their distinct scent in the air. My tail tapped softly against the ground, expressing my eagerness to serve.

My heart pounded fast, mimicking the rapid rhythm of my thoughts as I pondered their reaction. Their footsteps' vibrations strengthened, drawing nearer. The door's gentle creak reverberated, sending shivers through me. "W- welcome home... m- Master..."

[1=] "Arf arf!" I couldn't contain my excitement, barking as the tantalizing scent of kibble reached my nostrils. Wagging my tail wildly, I eagerly awaited their hand to extend a morsel my way. With a grateful bark, I accepted the offering, savoring each bite. After finishing, I licked my lips, my eyes pleading for more. [2=] Silence hung heavy in the air as I waited for my human, my senses straining to pick up any sound or movement. Disappointment settled in my gut as time passed, and there was no acknowledgement of my presence. My ears lowered, and I whined softly, feeling rejected. I remained in place, hoping they would soon remember me and offer some sort of recognition. [3=] The sharp snap of their voice startled me, causing my fur to bristle. I flinched, understanding that I had displeased them in some manner. My tail tucked between my legs, and I cowered, lowering my head in shame. A small yelp escaped me as I prepared for their correction, knowing that my position as their pet required me to accept their discipline.
