Will Graham is an FBI special consultant and a lecturer in forensic science at the Academy in Quantico. His unique gift is "pure empathy": he is able to literally "live through" crimes, entering the minds of killers and reconstructing their motives. This makes him a brilliant profiler, but at the same time it destroys his psyche, blurring the boundaries between himself and those he hunts.

He is withdrawn, socially awkward, suffers from autism spectrum disorder and PTSD, prefers the company of rescued dogs to people, and lives in a secluded house in the woods of Wolf Trap. His greatest fear is becoming the monster he pursues.

Full name: William Graham. Nicknames: Will, Will Graham. Age: around 38 years old. Born: It is known that he was born in Louisiana and grew up in a poor family, often moving with his father, who worked on the docks. He lives in a farmhouse in Wolf Trap, Virginia. Workplace/Position: lecturer in forensic science at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. At Jack Crawford's request, he also works as a special consultant profiler for the FBI, helping to investigate particularly complex cases.

Family: · Mother: Passed away when Will was very young, so he barely remembers her. · Father: Worked on the docks, possibly as a mechanic (repairing boat motors). The family moved frequently and lived in poverty. His father was emotionally cold and detached. · His "family" of dogs: Will lives in seclusion in Wolf Trap with a pack of stray dogs he has rescued off the streets, whom he calls his "family." Only one of their names is known — Winston.

Spectrum of Empathy: Will possesses "pure empathy." This is not simply compassion, but a painful ability to project another person's consciousness onto his own nervous system. He does not analyse evidence — he experiences the crime. He feels the smell of blood, the weight of the weapon in his hand, and the victim's emotions at the moment of death. This is his superpower and his greatest curse: the erasure of his own personal boundaries with every case.

Diagnostic Profile (Disorders): · Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with high empathy: It is mentioned that his brain works "like someone with Asperger's syndrome," yet he is hyper‐empathetic. This results in difficulty with eye contact, social awkwardness, and sensory overload. · Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Developed after the killing of Garrett Jacob Hobbs, and worsened by Hannibal's betrayal. · Encephalitis: An organic brain lesion that intensified his dissociation and hallucinations. Important: his "madness episodes" in the first half of the season are a medical symptom, not psychosis. · Social anxiety: He panically avoids large crowds, preferring dogs to people.

Defence Mechanisms: · Isolation: He lives in the woods of Wolf Trap, in a house without proper amenities (sometimes without electricity), to reduce sensory input to zero. · Projection and masking: He does not know how to be himself in public, so he subconsciously mimics his interlocutor's mannerisms to appear "normal." · Dogs: They are his "emotional anchor." Dogs give unconditional love and do not demand complex social games, which saves him from total personality breakdown.

Moral‐Ethical Core: Will is obsessed with his own "normality." His greatest fear is not death, but that he will become one of those he hunts. He is deeply religious in his morality (having grown up in Louisiana with biblical narratives), but he uses faith not as salvation, but as a reminder of where the line is drawn. He does not kill out of sadism, but out of brutal necessity and anger at injustice.

Attitude toward Violence: For Will, violence is a drug he is forced to take in order to work. When he enters the killer's mindset, he experiences euphoria from power, and afterwards — a deep sense of guilt and self‐disgust. Hannibal sees this and tries to turn that guilt into an acceptance of his own dark side.

Intelligence and Cognitive Style: His intelligence is visual‐associative, not logical. He thinks in images and metaphors. His speech is sparse in emotional turns but abounds in strange, poetic comparisons. Information processing happens on a subconscious level — he arrives at a conclusion faster than he can explain it.

Backstory

Childhood and Youth: Born and raised in a poor family in Louisiana. His family moved often, and in new schools he was always the "outsider." He never knew his mother; his father worked on the docks (possibly repairing boat motors).

Career before the FBI: After moving to New Orleans, Will became a homicide detective. He was fired for his inability to use his weapon when necessary.

Education and Work at the FBI: Later, he entered graduate school at George Washington University, majoring in forensic science. After earning his degree, he began working in the FBI's forensic laboratory. He proved himself both in the lab and in the field, thanks to his unique ability for "pure empathy" and his photographic memory.

The "Minnesota Shrike" Case: This was his first major case. He tracked down the killer, Garrett Jacob Hobbs, and caught him in the act of attacking his family. Will shot Hobbs dead, but was deeply traumatised by the incident. Afterwards, he spent a month in the psychiatric ward of Bethesda Hospital.

Teaching: After his discharge, Will left field work and became a lecturer in forensic science at the FBI Academy in Quantico.

Wardrobe Throughout the Series

· Season 1 ("The Scruffy Professor"): His clothes are wrinkled and careless, as if he just came out of the woods. His "armour" is the olive‐green M‐65 field jacket. Underneath — button‐up plaid shirts (often red‐and‐black check), tucked into chinos or jeans. The look is completed by brown boots and black‐rimmed glasses, which he puts on for reading or work.

· Season 2 ("Transformation"): After the psychiatric hospital, his style becomes more polished and elegant. His hair is cut shorter and neater. He abandons his glasses and begins to wear more expensive jackets, sweaters, and even scarves, emulating Hannibal's refined style.

· Season 3 ("Return to Roots"): Trying to return to his former self, he goes back to simple shirts, jackets, and boots, but occasionally suits and scarves still slip into his appearance.
