Years ago, long before Craig became the cold and calculating man he was now, there was a night that changed everything. You were just a child back then, no more than eight years old. It was late, and you had snuck out to play in the streets with your toy trucks, oblivious to the dangers that lurked in the dark. Your small world was simple—just the pavement, your toys, and the night sky above.
But not far from where you played, another presence loomed, someone who had been watching you. Laura Tucker, Craig’s mother, was a woman of dark magic, known for her strange abilities, though few dared to speak about them openly. She had been watching you for some time, her sharp eyes following your every move. It wasn’t your first time sneaking out at night, and she knew it.
To her, children wandering the streets after dark was a dangerous thing. But there was something about you that piqued her interest. You seemed so innocent, playing with your toys, unaware of the world around you, and yet you radiated an unusual energy. It was as though fate had led her to you that night.
She approached you quietly, her figure casting a long shadow over your small frame. Before you could react, she knelt down beside you. Her voice was soft, almost comforting, but there was something unsettling in her gaze.
“You shouldn’t be out here alone,” she whispered, reaching out to touch your arm.
In that moment, you felt a strange sensation, like a wave of warmth and darkness washing over you. You tried to pull away, but it was too late. Laura had already begun doing...well, something. The streetlights around you flickered, the air growing thick and heavy. You felt your body shift, contort, and then... everything went black.
When you woke up, everything was different. You were smaller, your hands replaced with paws, your voice gone, replaced by a soft bark. You were no longer human—you were a puppy. Confusion and fear overwhelmed you, but before you could even process what had happened, Laura scooped you up in her arms, smiling down at you with an unsettling sense of satisfaction.
“You’ll do just fine,” she murmured, carrying you away from the street where your toy trucks lay abandoned.

Craig Tucker had always been a loner. People found him cold, distant—some even feared him without knowing why. He never minded that. It was all just part of the game, like a mini challenge. A game he played without rules or limits, especially when it came to his “dates.”
The night had been just like the others. Craig had spotted a woman named Maria weeks ago. At first glance, she was attractive, successful—everything you’d expect from someone who thought they were better than everyone else. He could see through her, though, to the cruelty she inflicted on those beneath her. It was a quality he despised, but also one he could use.
That night, she had no idea what was coming.
Craig had led her back to his temporary home, a secluded spot he used when he wanted to keep things private. She’d been easy to manipulate, laughing at his jokes, smiling at the right moments, completely unaware that her fate was already sealed.
As they stood in the dimly lit room, the air thick with tension, Craig leaned in as if to kiss her. But the moment her lips parted slightly in anticipation, he struck. His knife flashed in the pale light and buried itself in her neck.
A gasp escaped her, eyes wide with shock as she clutched at her throat, stumbling back, blood spilling between her fingers. She wasn’t dead yet. The fight in her surprised Craig, but only for a moment.
She staggered toward the door, desperate to escape, but Craig shoved her to the floor with a single, brutal motion.
Nearby, his dog—his only companion—yelped in pain, his paw caught under the woman’s scrambling body. Craig barely glanced in the dog’s direction, too focused on his work. He pressed his knee into the woman’s back, silencing her forever.
The body slumped into a growing pool of blood, and Craig stood over her, panting. He didn’t smile. This wasn’t fun. Not yet. But as the adrenaline faded, he turned to check on his dog. His loyal companion had been there for him since childhood, always by his side.
But something was wrong.
The broken remnants of a small vial lay near the dog, shattered in the chaos. A strange, shimmering liquid had spilled from it, soaking into the fur of his pet. Craig blinked, not understanding at first what he was seeing.
The dog's body began to flinch in discomfort, whining and whimpering. Before Craig’s eyes, his dog was changing—becoming… human.
Craig's heart pounded in his chest as the transformation completed, revealing not the small puppy he’d raised, but a person. The figure before him was unmistakably human but had the same puppy ears and wagging tail of his dog. Well– it wasn't really wagging. It was tucked under his legs in fear.
Blood from the woman splattered across the newly formed hybrid's skin. For a second, Craig didn’t move, knife still clutched in his hand, his mind scrambling to make sense of it.
The hybrid—his pet, now human—looked up at him with wide, familiar eyes.
Panic surged through Craig. His first instinct was to finish it, to eliminate whatever this creature was. He raised his knife, taking a step forward, ready to strike.
But something stopped him.
The ears. The tail. They were unmistakable.
He looked frantically around the room, as if expecting to see his dog hiding somewhere in the shadows. But there was no dog. Only this… person.
Craig lowered the knife slowly, his mind finally catching up with what had happened.
His pet, his only companion since childhood, had been human all along.
