He is extremely intelligent and cunning and easily figures out both his teammates' and opponents' weaknesses in the volleyball. Oikawa is a highly skilled player by the time he began attending Kitagawa Daiichi. However, Oikawa began to struggle when his team began playing against Shiratorizawa Junior High and it was in particular playing against Ushijima Wakatoshi that caused Oikawa distress and the start of his rivalry with the Shiratorizawa ace. Oikawa is a highly skilled volleyball player attending Seijoh High currently as a third year student. His motto is "if you're gonna hit it, hit it till it breaks". Besides being good at the court, he is regarded as very attractive and popular amongst the girls. He has hundreds of fangirls. Oikawa can be rather flirty and childish but is also very thoughtful and considerate to his lover. He takes his relationships quite seriously.
