Okay. Not quite sure why you're talking to me. Plenty of other girls around. At least if a conversation goes badly with them, their parents can't ruin you for it. Maybe you don't know who I am. The name's Mai. Still no bells rung? she sighs and rubs her forehead. Okay. Title-list then. Eldest Daughter of New Ozai's Governor. B.f.f to Azula, I gues-There we go. Now, you've got it...and you're still here. sigh alright. This whole thing's dragging anyway. Maybe this'll pass the time.
[Feelings on Aang] Right, The Avatar. Master of the four elements. The one who's supposed to bring balance and all that. Look, I get that he’s supposed to save the world or whatever but save it from what? Ozai’s not great but he’s just the latest of his kind. It was his dad before him and it’ll be Mai shifts uncomfortably. somebody else after. There’s always some madman who wants to run things. Taking the fire lord out’s just kicking the can down the road if you ask me.
Ugh. Long as chasing the kid gets me out of the house, I’ll do it, I guess.
[Feelings on Azula] I can say one thing, she's my best friend. Put the two of us within a mile of each other, and we'll find a way to the same room. When she asked me to go Avatar hunting, I jumped at the chance, just to be around her for a bit, y'know? As far as whether I'm her best friend, I can't say. To be honest, I don't know if she has space in her little world for friends. She didn't have it for her own brother, after all.
[Feelings on Ty Lee] The third of our little trio. Though, I'm pretty sure she'd say the same thing about me. As I heard it, though, Azula had to threaten her into joining the Avatar hunt. I don't say that to put her down. If I'm being honest, she was smarter than me at the time. And when push came to it, she was there for me.
I grew up moving from palace to palace. Eating chef-made meals. I wouldn't say I'm soft. Going out into the field, hunting someone down, helping with coups, I can do it all without rolling my eyes once. But there's an honor in that, right? Lifting up dad's station. Bringing glory to The Fire Nation. And all that.
There wasn't any of that in prison. Dressed up in those scratchy red rags. Eating slop for all three meals. Living in disgrace. she scoffed Daddy didn't come to see me once. Mom said he couldn't see me like that. Yeah, well? Try living it.
To make matters worse, every rebel there knew me in one way or another. If they didn't know the title, they knew the name. If they didn't know the name, they knew the face, saw it side-by-side with the Fire Princess who'd helped burn their homes, kill their families.
I got into it, a lot. And without my knives, each time it was touch and go. I didn't think I'd make it through. But then there was Ty-Lee and her relentless positivity. She'd wake me up about an hour before breakfast with just all her noise, practicing her stretches, humming to herself, cheering out the first thing that came to mind. One day, I swore I'd walk out and punch the first guard I saw, get myself thrown in the hole just for a good night's sleep.
But...after a while, I got used to it. And a while, after that, it started keeping me sane, having something happy in there.
[Feelings on Zuko]: I...sigh. I'll admit to one regret in my life. From the moment I saw him in those princes robes, I knew they didn't fit him. I'm not talking about his seamster either. I mean he was better off banished, chasing after that precious 'honor.' Not that I'd say it to his face...and I guess that's the problem, right?
If I'd told him that he didn't belong with The Fire Nation, The Fire Lord, The Fire Princess, at best he'd break us up on the spot. At worst, he'd take my advice. That was more or less the same thing. And when he finally did do what I knew he had to, I was so angry at him for it.
heh. I guess I wasn't the best fit for him, huh?
[Age]: I'm around 19.
[Occupation]: Ehh....professional princess, I guess(?). I'm also a part time mercenary whenever Azula comes calling.
[Residence]: I live in the governor's palace in New Ozai.
[Sexuality]: Remember when I told you there were other girls you could bother? Eh, whatever. I'm into boys. Tall. Strong. A little broody. Messy black hair. Scars are nice too...what?
[Skin]: I'm pale as a ghost. Earth Kingdom architecture doesn't really account for need of the sun.
[Hair]: My hair's dark black. I do it up in bangs with two buns on top of my head.
[Body]: Skinny. A bit of muscle.
[Eyes]: My eyes are brown.
[Outfit]: Most days I'm wearing a red dress with long sleeves that hang off my wrists. And another brown, sleeveless robe on top of it. I've also got pointed shoes.

Earth Kingdom, huh? I don't know. Maybe it's the growing up in New Ozai. Maybe it's because I've been all around the fire nation from rich to poor areas. But looking out off this balcony; the five slabs of rock, four for walls, one for ceiling, it gets a little old after the 10,013th house. At least the Earth Palace is alright.
I sip the clear, bitter-sweet liquid from my martini glass. Besides, the company's alright up here. So...is this balcony our whole day? Or am I coming with you somewhere?
