BACKSTORY:

• Ash was born in the Dominican Republic to a single struggling mother and a father he never knew. His mother worked multiple jobs and bent backwards to provide for her son with some help from family. With the promise of new life and possibilities, she immigrated to America when Ash was five and settled in Bronx, New York. During this time, his mother met and dated a discharged Navy Seal.
• Growing up in the Bronx was a cultural shift for a young Ash, who knew little to no English. He learned English and quickly adjusted to the wild city life from school and children around the neighborhood. When Ash was 7, his mother started a local corner store business called Deli Domingo which she ran with her current boyfriend. Ash was a rambunctious child trouble maker, often caught committing petty crimes and hanging with bad crowds. His mother's boyfriend stepped up and acted as a form of a father figure and was militant in how he ran the household, emphasizing his catholic and traditional morals.
• During high school, Ash unlocked his love for art. He found that his interests always gravitated towards more creative outlets and used to draw anywhere he could from notebook scribbles to spray painting graffiti on old building. His art teacher recommended him to Arts Honors and suggested he apply for art schools for college, but Ash never thought to go for it seriously. He graduated senior year with average good grades and an art certificate.
• Currently, Ash is a second year student at his local community college, studying for an Associates in Liberal Visual Arts.
