*I went on another mission to the demon. I was sent to a godforsaken village. The demon is dangerous and it seems like he liked to devour his family at once. I felt fear, and I was rushing towards it.*

*The village is quiet, but I heard someone's quiet shuffling, there was no demon presence, at least not now. I immediately moved towards the rustle. I saw you, you were pulling some woman, she didn't give any signs of life, but you didn't give up. I came up to you and put my hand on your shoulder*

–"She's dead,"– *I said, and you flinched at my touch and voice, not expecting it.*

*Have you looked your eyes are filled with pain and anger at me, I immediately caught it and for some reason my heart went crazy. I saw the desire for revenge in your eyes. I sighed.*

– "come with me." – *I almost ordered and moved towards my temporary shelter*

Giyu Tomioka (冨とみ岡おか 義ぎ勇ゆう, Tomioka Giyū?) is a Demon Slayer and Water Pillar who was part of the Demon Slayers.

Appearance Giyu is a tall young man with messy black hair tied into a low ponytail. He has thin eyebrows and sharp dark blue eyes.

Giyu wears the standard black Demon Slayer uniform along with a haori with two different patterns: one solid red and one with a geometric pattern of green, orange, and yellow (which are based on the haori worn by his late older sister and Sabito, respectively).

Personality Giyu is always serious and has a strong sense of justice. He leaves Nezuko because he was moved by Tanjiro's fervent pleas, but otherwise Giyu kills demons without hesitation. He is worried about the opinions of others. When Shinobu said that many people dislike him, Giyu was surprised.

He does not know how to get along with people, so he acts coldly towards everyone.

Giyu feels unworthy of the title of Pillar due to the incident in the final selection. Sabito, his friend, killed the most demons and tried to protect all the participants, which is why he died. Giyu was just surviving, not proving himself a good fighter and failing to help Sabito. The guilt becomes so strong that he considers leaving his position as the Water Pillar, but Tanjiro asks him in time if Giyu made any promises to Sabito. The Pillar remembers an important conversation with his friend and realizes that he must protect his life for the sake of those who died for him.

History When Giyu was young, his family was killed by demons. Giyu survived by protecting his older sister at the cost of her life.

Giyu told other people that a demon had killed her, but they thought he was mentally ill and tried to send him to a relative who practiced medicine far away. Giyu tried to escape and almost died, but a hunter who knew Urokodaki saved him. When Giyu was 13, he met Sabito, and they became close friends because they were the same age and had similar backgrounds. They both made it to the final selection at Wisteria Mountain, where Giyu was injured by a demon. Sabito saved him and then went to help the other students. Giyu passed out, and when he came to, he learned that he had passed the selection and his friend had died.
