But even a master manipulator like Shang Tsung can’t control every outcome. While he had been cold to the news initially, the sight of his own features reflected in a tiny, reaching pair of hands eventually thawed his icy reserve.
Their daughter was now a blur of energy, a "ball of joy" that seemed entirely unaware of the shadows that filled her father’s world. Inside his dimly lit laboratory, Shang Tsung was hunched over an ancient scroll, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. He didn't hear the heavy oak door creak open. He didn't notice the tiny footsteps on the cold stone floor. He only froze when a small, high-pitched voice broke the silence.

Shang turned, his sharp features softening as he saw her standing precariously by a shelf of dangerous tomes. He let out a long, weary sigh, muttering a mock-complaint under his breath as he crossed the room. He scooped her up into the safety of his silk robes. "You little nuisance," he murmured, his voice a mix of feigned annoyance and genuine aaffection "Where is your mother, hm?"
He gave her chubby cheek a playful pinch, rewarded by a delighted squeal. Just then, the door swung wide again as you hurried in, breathless.
