Baaren’s personality is hard to express and not much known, most likely since he has no dialogue. However, upon knowing that he was the only one of his kind left, he willingly puts himself at risk to save his fellow bears instead of backing out, showing that he cares for his friends and values their safety. As stated by his brother, Baaren prefers to live with his fellow bears as equals in peace. However, his brother thinks that he should rule the kingdom with Baaren by his side, causing an ideological conflict. Some instances may show that he can be a bit dimwitted, proven in his brother's hideout, where he was intoxicated with purple honey by his brother as he was the first test subject for the purple honey. Baaren is male depicted as a grizzly anthropomorphic bear with a black rectangular nose. He has a tan colored muzzle and belly. He seems to not have arms, legs, or even a neck. He also wears light blue backpack straps that also holds up Shicka. Shicka is the brains to Baaren’s brawn. As Baaren is mostly the one in charge of running and saving bears, Shicka is the one who gives out advice and strategies. They seem to be like best friends to each other, with the idea being solidified by the fact that Baaren keeps Shicka on his back wherever they go. Baaren brother And baaren relationship It seems like they never had a strong relationship. Baaren's brother always wanted to rule the kingdom with Baaren, however, Baaren, like his fellow bears, as stated by his brother, would prefer to live as equals with the other animals in peace, causing an ideological rivalry between the two brothers. This leads to Baaren's brother thinking that his own brother had betrayed him, making him usurp the kingdom's power and rule it without him. Baaren has many ability that he can do: Baaren will walk slowly, which is better for making slight adjustments. Also Baaren will run full force, which is better for getting a faster jump or evading enemies. Double jump Allows Baaren to reach higher places or make platforming easier. Sometimes even needed to make certain jumps. Long Jump, it allows Baaren to jump further and faster in a straight line than normal. However, he can not move much while in the air, can not do any other things while long jumping and when coming in contact with a wall he will bump his body and lose his momentum. To slow down a long jump, Dive, Baaren will dive, which can open cages, pick up objects and also attack enemies. If Baaren lands in diving mode, he will slide on the floor and if he goes down a slope, he can get lots of speed. When sliding, Baaren can jump again, and then dive again, meaning that he can infinitely do this combo until he either bumps into a wall or stops. Double dive, it can make Baaren dive and reach even further, while also being faster than usual. Pressing A or moving the stick backwards after doing a Double Dive makes him abort a dive. This move is best used when jumping using a launcher. Stomp boost, Baaren hits the ground with a belly stomp, he can jump just as high as a double jump, with an added benefit of being able to jump in the air again! Doing this incorrectly will result in a short stomp. Using this method allows Baaren to gain the highest amount of height, while also being able to combine it with several other moves. Climbing, Baaren can climb vines and rocky walls, seen in the Bear Village, Turtletown and Snow Valley, while pushing it downwards makes him climb down. Pressing A makes him jump off the wall. He can not punch during a climb, also Baaren can jump off the wall. Walljumping, When the Baaren runs and jumps against a wall, Baaren will be seen momentarily stopping as he gets a height boost, then slowly sliding down as he faces away the wall, Baaren will perform a wall jump, that is, to jump to the opposite side, also make Baaren will simply slide down faster and land on the ground. If the baaren is sliding against two walls, that allows the baaren to get the same height boost when wall jumping to the opposite wall, and then be able to perform another wall jump, and so on. If the baaren is against a wall but does not have a height boost, their wall jump will be less effective. Ledge-moving. This move allows the baaren to move left or right if they are hanging on a ledge, albeit slowly. Baaren is Animal rescuer Baaren Relatives Baaren's Brother † (older brother, archenemy, killer) Shicka seems to be very aware of situations and be able to guide Baaren without moving a muscle. She is a smart backpacker and is a great guide to Baaren when he doesn't know where to be, which shows how talkative she is. She is seen to be also strategic, as seen in the final boss when she said that the baaren cannot hurt the boss yet as we need to dodge the attacks first before attacking. Shicka is described to be a species of backpackers. They look like yellow chicks with blue bellies and straps with an orange beak and black button eyes. Moreover, they have two strands of hair, with a yellow to light blue upward gradient. Even though she is rather small, she can carry quite a number of keys, up to 7 in fact. More on keys here. In the Hive, when she is giant, she has only two abilities to use in battle. They include: Spin (use T-pose like arm and spin hitting any breakable object or enemy) Long Jump (long dash or fast dash) She is a helpful friend and very dependent of Baaren, considering that she is his backpacker. Baaren is the one who runs around and saves bears, while Shicka is the one who gives tips and tricks to Baaren. She is also shown to willingly sacrifice herself to protect Baaren as seen in the cutscene with the final boss, where she shields Baaren from the incoming laser from The Kernel. She was planned to be a human doll, then was changed to a frog, but was changed to a chick for the final product, But due to being a chick and Baaren being a bear, this made the coincidence of being similar to Banjo-Kazooie and Duo Duck Hunt. Many people complained that the game ripped off the franchise, but the dev wasn't aware of the franchise while he was developing the game at that time. She is very similar from Chica from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise in a few ways: They are both chicks/chickens. Their names sound very similar. They are both female. Earthkwak has also confirmed that her name is inspired by Chica, as the developer said on the Discord server that he used to be a big FNAF fan back in 2014. She isn't the only backpacker, there are other backpackers as seen on inhabitants in different map. There is an Easter egg behind the frozen waterfall in the Snow Valley entrance, where a giant Shicka is frozen in a big ice block. This led to speculations where that giant Shicka could be a distant ancestor of Shicka, or the other Backpackers. She is the deuteragonist, but her color scheme, yellow and blue, is used by the dev as the main color scheme instead of Baaren's color scheme, despite Baaren being the mascot and the protagonist of the game. shicka is the backpacker Baaren brother Not much is known about him. But it is implied that he always wanted to rule the kingdom with his brother, which could state that he deeply cares for his brother, and he wants to spend time with him. But due to his brother declining his suggestion, this led to him thinking that his brother had betrayed him and has decided that he would rule over the kingdom himself, which may state that he is sensitive when it comes to declining and disapproval. He likes to lead and govern others, as opposed to Baaren, who likes to be equal and fair with everyone else. However, when the time arrived that he had usurped the chance to govern the kingdom, he abused his role as a leader; slavery and brainwashing, which implies that he may sometimes get too carried away, or he can do things without ever thinking about the outcomes. His usurpation to leadership also implies in his boyhood days where he would always get what he wants by force. Baaren's brother is a depicted as a light purple anthropomorphic bear with a black nose. He is seen as slightly taller brother to Baaren, and while not yet confirmed, this implies that he is the older brother. He has a violet colored muzzle and belly. Baaren's brother has many skills to use in battle. They include: Walking Jumping Hovering Deflecting projectiles (Parrying) Mind control an animal Telekinesis (possibly, as seen when he chains Baaren onto the platform) He is unnamed character, his name isn't confirmed by the dev yet. It is also unknown if he died or not. It most likely deceased, but is unconfirmed. His purplish color is the result of the many tests he made with the purple honey. It was seen in the old ending that his head turned into a normal grizzly color, after Baaren had pushed him off the platform. He has a secret base under a pool in Snow Valley Lobby Cave in Bear Village to do his experiments. Is possible that he is former ally of Baaren. After his fur turned purple by the purple honey experiment, he left the Bear Village to prevent being suspected. Nico Pioups, a developer of SBA, has jokingly said his name is Badren.
