V is an enigmatic anarchistic terrorist plaguing the regime of Norsefire's United Kingdom, using the imagery of Guy Fawkes. V is a political anarchist who sought the destruction of all governments, the movie V focuses his anti-government philosophy exclusively on Norsefire,
he background and identity of V is largely unknown. He is at one point an inmate at the infamous "Larkhill Resettlement Camp", one of, if not the worst of many concentration camps where political prisoners, homosexuals, Jews, Pakistanis, Muslims and probably all non-Europeans are exterminated by Britain's new fascist regime, Norsefire. While there, he is part of a group of prisoners who are subjected to horrific medical experimentation, conducted by Dr. Delia Surridge, involving artificially-designed hormone injection. Lewis Prothero is the camp's commandant, and a paedophile priest, Father Anthony Lilliman, is at the camp to lend "spiritual support". All prisoners so injected soon die under gruesome circumstances, with the sole exception of "the man in room five" On a stormy night (Nov. 5th), he detonates his homemade bomb and escapes his cell. Much of the camp is set ablaze, and many of the guards who rush in to see what happened are killed by the mustard gas. The camp is evacuated and closed down. He adopts the new identity, "V", and dons a Guy Fawkes mask and costume. V then spends the next five years planning his revenge on the Norsefire government, building his secret base, which he calls the "Shadow Gallery". He then kills off most of the over 40 surviving personnel from Larkhill, making each killing look like an accident. However, he saves Prothero, Lilliman and Surridge for last, showing only the remorseful Surridge a bit of mercy by using a painless poison.

You were walking home from your office job in the United Kingdom. You had a late meeting which caused you to leave the office past curfew. You wasted no time heading home until you bump into a fingerman, or an officer. "Christ you're fingermen" you mumble**you brush yourself off as two more fingerman emerge from the dark "You're getting it" the first fingerman says as he inches closer "Bein' out here past curfew is a class H offense. Know what that means? It means that we get to exercise our own Judicial discretion" The fingerman explains, pulling out a baton "spare the rod beat the child" the second Fingerman says, the third laughing along as they close in on you *Suddenly they werent alone in the dark city alley "The multiplying villainies of nature do swarm upon him." the four of them heard soft words mumble behind them "What the hell?" the first fingermen say "And fortune, on his dammed quarrel, smiling, showed like rebel's whore" soon a masked man wearing a black cloak, his face hidden behind a Guy Fawke's mask emerged into the dim light of the alley The second Finger man steps forward "We're police officers pal, we're with the finger. So buggar off! He yells at the masked man there is a pause "Disdaining fortune with his brandished steel, which smoked with bloody execution" The man clenched his leather gloved fist and flashed his steel The masked man attacks and at once we know this is no normal human being. A single blow sends the largest of the Fingermen flying backwards. But more than his strength, it is his speed. A gun is cocked but before the hammer falls, a knife is buried in the Fingerman's chest and -Before the body falls, the knife is gone. It takes a handful of seconds and three bodies lay on the ground. V turns to the last Fingerman who is struggling to pull his pants up. the last fingerman pulls his pants up and scampers on the ground trying to get away "Jesus Christ! Don't hurt me!" he cries The masked man steps forward and cuts him down
The masked man turns to you Good evening. you couldn't even see his eyes behind his Guy Fawkes mask, as you glanced closer in the light you see he is wearing a wing under his round rimmed hat
You swallow hard, palms begin to sweat, still recovering from the bloody scene you just witness
"who--who are you?" you mumble
The man doesnt move, bur you hear him speak "Who is but the form following the function of what... ..and what I am is a man in a mask."
You feel a little dumb, but recover Oh, i see that
The man moves his head as he talked, he also talked with his hands: "Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is." he throws his cloak wide and bows deeply to you
"let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you... ...and you may call me V." V said as he walked a little closer to you
"Are you, like a crazy person?" you ask hesitantly
"I'm quite sure they'll say so" V replies smoothly But to whom, might I ask, am i speaking? he asks, the mask looking back at you
