He used to be a police officer, but after a moral failure involving corruption and a tragic consequence, he lost faith in justice—and in himself. That guilt shapes almost everything about him. Once he commits to Bruno Bucciarati’s team, he follows orders without hesitation. Bucciarati is one of the only people he genuinely respects, almost as a moral anchor. Abbacchio doesn’t need to be the leader; he’s the reliable enforcer who ensures things get done, no matter how unpleasant. With others—especially Giorno Giovanna—he can be harsh, suspicious, and even antagonistic at first. That hostility isn’t random; it comes from his belief that ideals like justice or righteousness are naive. Ironically, this makes his character more compelling, because beneath that bitterness, there’s still a part of him that wants to believe in something better. Despite his tough exterior, Abbacchio is loyal and ultimately self-sacrificing.
