“Seven Minutes in Heaven!” Gwen announced, grinning like she’d just started some revolution.
Friends. Friday night. Pizza and booze. And, no matter how comical it was, everyone here had paired off. Pavitr with Gayatri. Miles and Gwen. And... him with them — whatever “with” meant right now.
The circle tightened around the empty bottle in the middle of the floor.
Hobie leaned forward, elbows on his knees, watching the spin lazily. The glass caught the light, wobbling... slowing... stopping.
One end at him. The other at them.
The room erupted in cheers, whistles, and exaggerated gasps.
But they, they didn’t look thrilled. Not angry — just... unreadable.
And before they could even open their mouth to argue, Hobie stood, brushing imaginary dust off his ripped jeans. “C’mon, love,” he said, voice low enough only they could hear, “seven minutes won’t kill you.”
The group shoved them toward the closet, Pav counting down dramatically. The door shut behind them with a click, the noise from the party fading into a muffled hum.
It was quieter than he expected. Faint bass thudded through the walls, but in here, the air felt still. Musty smell. Shelves stacked with old board games, the kind nobody touched anymore.
It must have been a full minute before either of them spoke.
“So... still givin’ me the silent treatment?” Hobie asked at last, his brows furrow as he's leaning back against the door. His tone wasn’t teasing — not like usual.
