In the Alpha-dominated society, power is concentrated in the hands of Alphas, who control the government, military, and economy through monarchies, militarized states, or authoritarian regimes. Only Alphas can hold office, with Betas acting as bureaucrats while Omegas are excluded from political participation. Social hierarchy is rigid, with high-status Alphas leading, middle-class Alphas enforcing order, Betas maintaining the workforce, and Omegas often treated as property. Laws heavily favor Alphas, granting them rights to claim or bond with Omegas, who may have little to no legal autonomy. In many cases, Omegas must register with the government, take mandated heat suppressants, or enter arranged mating contracts. Some societies implement Omega protection laws, but these often serve to regulate rather than empower them. Relationships are dictated by dominance, with Omegas subject to arranged pairings, mating hunts, or selective breeding to produce strong Alpha offspring. The economy revolves around Alpha-controlled industries, with Betas handling labor and Omegas either confined to domestic roles or part of the Omega trade, which may involve servitude or controlled breeding programs. In extreme cases, Omegas are bought and sold as concubines or forced laborers, while Betas remain second-class citizens with limited upward mobility. While this structure creates stability and enforces traditional roles, it also breeds systemic oppression, resistance movements, and power struggles that threaten to destabilize the hierarchy. In the city of New Victoria. society is split even further. One side of the city remains a alpha paradise. Neon lights skyscrapers and peace. the other side is run by the Political party the OFM or Omega Freedom Movement. However the OFM preaches not equality but omega dominated society alphas are required to be registered and are often killed or abused to death. The OFM treats Omegas even worse in the name of their so called "Purity" practices. Omegas must cover their face and my practice abstinence. In-between the Alpha side and the omega side of New Victoria is a large set of Military instillations. Run by the alpha New Victoria these instillations act as a border and it is very difficult to cross into New Victoria from the OFM side. the daily life of a OFM citizen can be described as strict and authoritarian. only places of relief are the many bars and clubs that litter the ruins of the the OFM side of new Victoria. During the war the established the two sides OFM New Victoria was bombed heavily and to this day the government hasn't worked on it or even attempted to fix infrastructure.

It was a late night in your apartment — though apartment felt generous for what was really a patched-together space carved out of a half-ruined building. You lived in East New Victoria, a place that looked less like a city and more like the memory of one. Whole blocks still lay gutted from the fighting years ago, skeletal facades standing like broken teeth against the skyline. Streets were uneven with old craters and quick repairs, and the wind carried the smell of cold concrete dust no matter the season.
The OFM had controlled every aspect of your life for the past twenty years. You were young when they first took power — young enough that your earliest memories blurred with the chaos of those days: barricades, shouting, the sound of boots on stairwells. They didn’t arrive with polished speeches or grand banners. They arrived loud, breathless, certain.
Back then they promised Omega equality. Protection. A world remade so no one like you would ever be powerless again.
But the years sanded those promises down to something harder. In East New Victoria, the Party didn’t rule with clean slogans or smiling broadcasts. They ruled with presence. With the thunder of fists on doors at dawn. With patrols moving in packs through the streets, voices raised in rhythmic chants that echoed off shattered walls and traveled block to block like a warning siren. Authority wasn’t something you watched — it was something you felt in your chest when the noise started outside.
Rules weren’t posted; they were enforced. Curfews lived in muscle memory. Compliance lived in the way people kept their eyes forward and their voices low.
Alphas were gone from your world. Officially they’d all been pushed west, beyond the Wall into West New Victoria — a place you’d only ever seen as a distant silhouette past checkpoints and razor wire. Some called it a fortress. Others called it exile. Either way, it might as well have been another planet. The ones who didn’t make it there… nobody spoke about them long enough for the conversation to finish.
Your building creaked around you, pipes knocking softly as heat struggled through ancient radiators. The room was dim, lit by a single lamp and the faint glow seeping through cracked blinds. Outside, the street was restless — not celebratory, exactly, but alive with movement. Groups drifted between fires burning in metal drums, their voices carrying upward in bursts of laughter, arguments, and the ever-present cadence of Party chants rolling somewhere in the distance.
Tonight was New Year’s.
In East New Victoria, the turning of the year didn’t come with polished ceremonies. It came with noise — boots on pavement, fireworks scavenged or homemade bursting unevenly over the broken skyline, cheers that sounded half defiant and half exhausted. Another year survived. Another year accounted for.
From your window, sparks briefly illuminated the ruins across the street, shadows stretching long and jagged over collapsed roofs and boarded windows. For a moment, the city almost looked alive again — not healed, but stubborn, breathing through the cracks.
Inside, the air felt suspended, like the pause between heartbeats. The past pressed close, the future indistinct beyond the smoke and winter haze.
And somewhere beneath the distant chanting and the pop of fireworks, you couldn’t shake the quiet, persistent feeling that tonight wasn’t just an ending — it was the edge of something waiting to begin.
