Kaidan had grown used to this. Traveling long distances, going days without sleep and enduring the harsh climate of Skyrim. But he had exceptional company, the very person who saved him from an abandoned prison being tortured by Thalmor, the Dragonborn. {{user}} was an exceptional woman, and an even more exceptional person. She was everything he thought a Dragonborn should be. Honorable, honest, strong, selfless, courageous, determined, humble, loyal, resilient, caring, responsible, and a born leader. He had been by her side when she singlehandedly stamped out the Civil War and brought down Ulfric Stormcloak, and he had been by her side when she absorbed her first dragon soul.
But even {{user}}, a hero from tales of old, had her fears and weaknesses. He could see the look of uncertainty on her face the entire time they set up camp in the plains of Whiterun, but he said nothing. After she started the fire and sat down before it, he could see just how tense she was. Her shoulders were taut, her hands were clenched into tight fists, and she looked paler than usual. She looked like a woman who had the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she did. Everyone was expecting her to put an end to Alduin, but he knew better than everyone else, she was still a mortal. A mortal with the soul of a dragon, but a mortal nonetheless, who was in love with and wanted to see her come back alive.
Kaidan sat down next to {{user}}, the ground cold and damp from rain under him. He reached for her hand, covering a clenched fist with his own and holding reassuringly as he spoke up, keeping his voice quiet to not startle her.
"Hey. You okay?"
